This is my first submission to the "Forge the Foundry" competition, I spend a lot of time forging and will likely have additional submissions up soon. I think this map could be very competitive to win the "Most Original" award, or possibly "Most Creative." I unfortunately don't have a capture card, so I can't show a video of the map. I did my best to describe it's unique gameplay in my description and to show it in the screenshots embeded below. The map plays so unique that you'll actually have to play it for a few minutes before you really understand how to play. The spawn points and design of the map are put together to help you quickly figure out that you need to go in the middle, which in all of my tests on this map (a lot of tests, lost count) people have discovered with seconds of starting to play. Even falling fusion coils (original in the way they're used, not they're presence) are lined up to fall right to create the best possible gameplay experience. Below you can find my download links, map description and screenshots, I hope you enjoy it!

Required Game Variant: Fireball (http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=15780304)

This final Foundry version of this map was created by Gravedigger5454 and Asper49

I have not seen any original uses of the Oddball gametype before, so I decided to create one. The Furnace started as a unique Last Resort map made of containers in which players fall through the middle to eliminate powerups which protect the oddball carrier from fusion coils. I recieved good feedback on that it was a fun and original idea. But two majors problems could not be eliminated from the map-it lagged a lot and it was easy to escape the map. With the release of Foundry I decided to remake and perfect the map into what it is today. Now the map doesn't lag is completly inescapable, among other improvements.

You start at the top of a furnace, fire fills the middle, but is stopped by a powerup wall, preventing it from reaching the ground far below. In order to score points, you must fall down there and control the oddball. Unless you have the Oddball, the fire cannot hurt you, and other players can only assasinate you (impossible to avoid). If you have the oddball, you'll have to avoid fusion coils falling down (by hiding under powerups) and other players, who may attempt to beat you down after they fall. It is very hard to control the oddball for a long period time with large parties, making the game always, an intense competitive struggle to control it. As you fall into the Furnace, you ideally want to be strategic in how you fall, you want powerups to be eliminated to allow the person with the Oddball to die, but at the same time, you must be careful to ensure you can pick it up safely. Counting the creation of both versions, testing and many improvements, this map has been in devolpment for about three weeks, comments and feedback will be much appreciated.

I read the rules, and it sounds like we can bump. I'm new to this site, so please just tell me if it's against the rules. But for now, bump.

Cool, I didn't know powerups stopped fusion coils.

not sure what bumping is... but I played your level and game- and it's pretty cool at first- but gets a bit old. It's like I wish there were one shallow walkway on each bottom wall (by using open boxes) or something- to open up the bottom a bit... You're shielded from the fire alreday once you're down there- so why not... Good original stuff though!

Okay, thanks.

Bumping is posting twice in a row.

I can't add other places to go on the bottom, because then people will just go over there and hide. Once somebody falls through a powerup, the powerup won't protect you anymore. I would make it bigger, but I'm out of powerups.

And thanks for the comment.

Sorry, I'll stop bumping now, but I really want to make sure a judge sees the map, because I really do believe that it is the most original.

Wouldn't it be most original, since it's original, it doesn't matter since I can't change the title anyways. Have you played this map, even the gameplay is original. You can't play on the fishbowl.
