This is a symmetrical map inspired by Turf, Wizard, Prisoner, and Hang 'Em High. It is designed for competitive gameplay with 4 to 8 players. Good for TS and FFA.

Screenshots do not do the map justice. The map was designed with MLG in mind, so it has been made completely symmetrical. There is an overshield in the exact center of the map, and a bubble shield directly below that in an area known only as "Death Alley" (we know it sounds cheesy, but when you play you will see that the name fits). Both teams spawn at their own bases and generally rush for overshield. Each team has a sniper, a shotgun, 4 fragmentation grenades, 2 spiker grenades, a few battle rifles and assault rifles, and 2 SMGs. The map is designed for a BR Start.

Captain Mighty, my friend who did the majority of the item moving, was such a perfectionist that he would never place an object unless it was as damn close to being perfectly aligned with the objects around it as possible. Because of this the map looks extremely clean. Some crates, barrels, fusion cores, etc. have been added to give the map some character, as opposed to looking plain as most submissions do.

My main focus was on ensuring that the map played well. I found small things that could be taken advantage of and found a way (a very clean looking way) of taking those away and ensuring for a fair game.

When you walk around on this map, it doesn't feel like it was created by users, it feels like an actual map. Everything is as smooth as possible, and that is important for all fighting because no one wants to be bouncing up and down in the middle of a BR fight, or any fight for that matter.

So give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.

Department 271 is designed for Team Slayer and FFA. It is a symmetrical map, designed for competitive gameplay. 4 to 8 players.

One thing that I think will be appreciated is the attention to detail. Every item in the map has been measured and laid out to line up perfectly and symmetrically. This is the smoothest forge map I have seen, and quite possibly the smoothest one made. On top of that it is also quite fun. Give it a download and try it out, you won't be dissapointed.

Well, it's over halfway through the last day and not a soul has downloaded it. If anyone is kind enough to take a second and download it I would appreciate it. At least that way I would have a fair chance in the contest.

Just let me know what you think of it. Thanks guys.

I saw your post another thread and decided to see what your map was. I was pleasantly suprised to find what appears to be a very well made and original map. I like how the bases are designed and your use of the floating objects. The base looks as if it should be there, not as if it was glitched there, like most floating bases do. This looks like it could be pretty fun and original map, sadly I can't download it right now due to the limit though.

Thanks man, some friends and I spent the whole day test-playing the map and it was really fun. Most people were really impressed with how perfect it was, and especially the neat way that the original bases are blocked off. Well, let me know what you guys think once you check it out.

Also, the map has been updated since the screenshots. The overshield is now slightly higher in its area. Shotguns have been replaced with maulers, snipers have been moved to the top platforms, and a few spawns were moved to better alocate for some fragmentation grenades.

Let me know what you think. So far every person who has downloaded it said it was perfect or gave it a 5 star rating. Thanks a lot guys.

Department 271 is the cleanest, smoothest and most professionally built looking map you are going to find. So if you are looking for a map that plays like a real map, looks like a real map, and feels like a real map - then you have found it.

This is mostly just a bump :P. But over at the Bungie Forums we have I d1sTuRb m3 I quoted as saying "wow this map is very great. for me being an mlg customs freak i really think this is an MLG fittable map. Great Job"

We now have a total of 24 Downloads, 7 on the Captain Mighty account and 17 on the Windburry account. Still have a complete 5 star rating :)
