You just pull the sticks off, it requires a little force but not much. As for the rumble motors, there's no need to cut, just follow the wire from the motors to where they plug into the controller (when you look at it you'll understand) and unplug those.
And for those who will post after me, this has been posted already and searching is useful.

They didn't just pop off when you pulled them away from the seating? Never had that problem. You are trying to take just the stick off, right?

After I replaced my sticks, for some reason I had to replace D-Pad as well, it just made it look better.
I also replaced the buttons so they're all X's, no real reason but i just thought that would look cool.

where the fudge do you find the screwdriver needed? i've got a tool box w/about 50 different screwdrivers and not one works. i have one that is close but it doesn't have a divot in the tip it needs. what it's called or what size would be appreciated.

It's either a security hex wrench or a regular screw driver. Wireless controllers have the security bolts (with indent in middle) and wired controllers have regular bolts.

The sticks come right off, dont worry you wont brake them. Just give them a little tug and there loose.
Also for the vibration dont take that out. it will change the whole weight of the controller and trust me you wont like it. Just keep your controller off vibrate
