So we've got a nice community developing here, far more useful than anything outside of the main page i've read on forgehub so far. Trouble with this place though is that there's too many different kinds of information all scattered about, so I propose that the forum be split into the following sub categories.
Halo 3 Forge Map Database - the root forum (here), for finished and mostly completed beta works ONLY.
Halo 3 Sketchup Forum - given that there are more sketchup threads than completed maps in this forum now, i think it warrants having a subforum for map concepts. stickied link to the forge sketchup and the spreadsheet.
Halo 3 Forge Discussion Forum - for tutorials, help with forge problems, and advanced techniques/measurement discussion, as well as higher order concept discussion (like Nasty's golden rules, stuff like that) with a sticky topic similar to the newb guide in the main halo 3 forum.
I know this forum moves rather slow but there are too many radically different discussion topics going on for me to sort out what's a map, what's a concept, and what's a tutorial anymore. At the very least I think mapping discussion should be separated from actual maps, but I think the sketchups belong in a different place as well. There seems to be little interest or understanding in forge communities outside of here as to what makes a good slayer map, so a little more organization here would be very helpful!

Yes. That works. But given the fact there are hardly any new threads here, it is not hard to sort through them.

yeah sounds like it would be a really good idea, but not many new threads are being made. Map production is at at a stand still. Seems like all the top forgers are working on tidying up their maps and not even looking at the forum anymore more other peoples maps. People like Salot should make newer maps, such as a non Onslaught design he has been working on that map forever and hes such a good forger he should try to create something else. Fritzster another amazing forgers map Amplified is being worked on to be perfected. Amplified hasn't even been talked about anymore. Also lastly Nexn and Kronic are working on perfecting Lockdown. Without some of these forgers producing new maps this forum is slowing down. Also i can guarantee most people dont even bother posting maps on here anymore because of what they have to keep up to to even get there map looked at. This forum is dissapearing slowly...:x

agree with the first part... the sencond part I don't. I think you are seeing less maps posted here, b/c other forgers are seeing that to get a map looked at, it better be good. New kids make a map in like 5 hours, post it.... and are wounding why no one cares. Then they look at a map like amp, that is somewhere near 1000 hours in the making, and see the sick crain and they quit.
MLG forge forums isn't the place to post a map if your new to forge. Forgehub is, they will most likly be nice to you and tell you that it is the greatest thing ever. Here no one will look at your map, unless it is super clean and put together well.
As for the main idea of this tread, I planed on making a tread with sub-topics in it this weekend, that I will be a map data base with all the top maps. I will update this weekly as needed. Kind of like how nasty has a tread about 4 maps for v5, which i think is a great read.

This thread simply doesnt seem to get enough traffic to warrant subforums at this point, but we will be moderating it more closely from now on. We also are going to try to get some good stickies up. Mehpistos thread is a great start.
Keep on Forgin.

No but if the community universally agrees that it is worthy of being stuck in this forum I'd be happy to do so.

it would just help clean up the forums, there seems to be more post about map ideas then finished maps. SO the finished maps are being pushed backed.
Also, some people have questions with forge, there should be a sub-forum, or a sicky for general questions.
and yes, mehpistos tread is very good.
