Glitches
Merging objects together
1. Set the first object you want to merge*
2. Point at the object and press X
3. Set RESPAWN RATE to "180"
4. Set PLACE AT START to "No"
5. Back out , then press start > START NEW ROUND
6. Set the second object in the spot you want it to merge into the first object
7. Set an object that is the same as the first object you placed (it doesn't matter where you set this one)
8. Point at that object, then press X twice
9. Set RUN TIME MINIMUM to match the number PLACED ON MAP (which is right above)
10. Quickly point at the first object and set PLACE AT START to "Yes"
11. Then set the RUN TIME MINIMUM back to zero
*you may want to surround the base object with placeholders to get a clean looking merge

1. Hold an object in mid-air anywhere, it doesn't matter where
2. Press start > SAVE CHANGES > END GAME
3. Start over, your object will be in place wherever you were holding it when you saved

Awesome tutorials, very well done. Its really cool to see in video how to do some of these things rather than just text. I just learned how to geo-glitch, and your video made it seem a lot easier now that i've seen it done more efficiently.
I was listening to "Drunken Lullabies" by Flogging Molly during the geo-glitch video, and for some reason i thought it was a perfect song for the video, almost like it went with it. Don't ask why, it just felt right.

hey i just looked on the forge hub thing and they said they have a pre glitched foundry [money glitch that is], and my brother doesn't wanna take the time to do that. neither do i.

New trick for floating any and all objects:
1. place object you want floating somewhere near it's end location
2. Press X
3. Hold Back

yea, i saw that over at forgehub, but it's hard to position because you cant use the right thumbstick. it's a lot easier to use the save quit method, but i guess it is pretty useful if the piece is lined up perfectly beforehand

I figure it's good for drop-spawning weapons, but besides that I suppose it is rather useless.

About geo-glitching.
you can get rid of gaps between your boxes and the maps geometry to prevent alternate routes to certain areas, you can make it more symmetrical if the map has something in the way you can build THROUGH it, you can build into the floor to lower objects to a specific height to remove 'bumps', and much more, its really up to your imagination what you can do, but those are the main few things.

Use other boxes to level them out, there is a method of geoglitching (the way we did it before doors) that lets you do pretty much anything, look it up on forge hub, they can explain it better than I can.

When i try to merge my objects into foundry, most of the time foundry just sucks up my object and then it goes all crazy and dissapear into the wall....got a solution??

that method doesent work at all...i've been practising that method shown in the video here and i think i got it, it takes alot of time to get it in the right position though...are Amplified and Onslaught made this way?? it must have taken alot of time to do that cuz these guys just merged stuff ito the walls in mid-air, dunno how they do that though.....:roll:

if you use the method shown above you run the risk of the object merging too deep into the wall/floor. that's why they dissappear. if you use the other method you have more control, it just takes longer.

start new round, if you just went into game and cant click on object it hasnt spawned yet, just start new round and set another of the same object to auto spawn and it will be there.

I'm having a difficult time with geolocking multiple boxes. Whenever i get one box set in place (say, the corner of foundry), the box i geolock next to it is never the same height as the first, or it is crooked, or maybe a small part of the box is in the floor. I'm currently working on a map variant that requires a lot of this, and I was hoping you all could give me some tips or advice. I usually use single/double boxes, bridges, and walls to secure the box i want to geolock. Would you say using teleporters and weapon holders are better for securing? What kind of methods do you use to get geolocked boxes even and straight? I have seen a lot of maps (Impact v2, Confined v2, .Lastshot, to name a few) that have perfectly seamless geolocked boxes. I would like to have my maps the same. Any help is greatly appriciated. Thanks.
Oh, when I say Geo-Locking I mean Geo-Glitching. 8)

I have a major problem. I almost finished with my map but I can't spawn anything except respawn points. Every items' runtime maximum is stuck and I can't change it. BTW I'm using the infinite $ glitch.
I've tried deleting items and setting the run time minimum to the run time max but nothing works.
Someone please help because I spent forever on this map and I don't want it to be all a waste.

Yea, that's what happens when you use the money glitch. I don't know of any way to reverse it except to start over without using the glitch. That's why nobody does it.

There is a way to fix it, Ive read people talking about it on Forge Hub but I dont know it. Im sure if you posted and werent a **** about it youd eventually find help. I know what it feels like to have the inf money glitch mess everything up though, hopefully you get this figured out

The reason why its not working, is that crates are movable objects, unlike objects in the newer maps. On newer maps, there are objects that, when placed, stop moving and become completely unmovable except in forge. Crates, are never supposed to stay in midair. Try doing the save quit glitch with a Teleporter then putting the crate on top of it, there's pretty much no other way.:-?

I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to model the Foundry template in Autodesk Inventor. It's a much better program, and much easier to make objects do what you want and be exact with it... The only problem is that the Program is VERY expensive. I have a copy of it though, and I'll upload the files for anyone who can get their hands on a copy of Inventor. Also, realize that Inventor has a relatively steep learning curve, but for the basics of mating surfaces and offsetting, it will be easy after the objects are modeled.
I hope to use the same dimensions that the original template used, but if I am going to be able to add more items (Wall Corners, doors, wire spools, etc), I need to know how the items were measured. Once I get all of the vital objects modeled, making maps on the computer will be much easier for anyone who can get a copy of the software and have a computer that can handle it.

To place starting points, hit Start > Change Gametype > Slayer > hit X > Spawn Points > Starting Point

my way is once i put up something like a box, id put a wall behind it, but have some of the wall stick out. that way i just push up another box onto it. but is there any better way

Ok, so today since Live has been down, I've ben putting the finishing touches on my version of MLG Epilogue 1.0. It's turning out great, but have yet to test it due to Live being down. Now, I got all my weapon placement down, and set all my spawns up, however my starting spawns are messed up. Red team and Blue team spawn nowhere near where I set them to start. Anyone know how to make "starting spawns". What am I doing wrong here?

No only thing that stretches foundry's limit is the budget glitched map which gives you unlimited budget. As i know there is no way to get more materials then foundry supplies you with. That would be sweet thoughh....
Either im retarded or i cannot find what im looking for. Im gonna attempt a sketchup but i cant find a file with all the items pre made and just need placing. The spreadsheet link sends me to a thread with a link that sends me to a broken file.

Here's some info on what i have learned about starting spawns related to teams/colors.
Blue team is attackers and red team are the defenders. The only gametype MLG supports that gaurentees that the correct color team will spawn in there set side is CTF. Defenders(red) will always spawn/start on defenders spawn points and attackers(blue) will always spawn on attackers spawn/start points.
Now in slayer/oddball and KOTH, blue team and red team will randomly switch sides so there is no way to tell. To set these starting spawns correctly, you must be in monitor mode and select the change gametype option to the gametype you desire. Then go through your objects menu by hitting "X" and find the spawn list. When you select the start spawn place it where wanted then hit x on it again to adjust the settings.
I usually layout 4 defender starting spawns, 4 attacker and a starting point for 3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th/8th team for FFA and team games.

^^You can use window panels too in place of doors, for those who don't know. They offer a little different merge depth than doors do and since they don't cost anything, they're great in a pinch when you're running low on budget and need a couple of final merges.

So rotation (not movement) after letting go of the right trigger isn't recorded if you save and quit? Is it possible this is responsible for the crooked double box problem?

Assuming this works (which several well known FH people have confirmed it does) than yes thats exactly what it means and exactly why they were having problems. Wow, I didn't even of the further implications of this after reading it.
In addition this is also a completely new way to geo, once we find a way to line this style of geo up accurately then I could see this being really useful particularly for merging into the sides of foundry, and for making wall/bridge ramps.
Crazy this was a few days away from a year after foundry's release.

You don't have to necessarily grab from the teardrop, but it's the part of your object that you want to move when you shove it against your geometry. The location of the teardrop when you save/quit is where the object will align itself when you start a new game. That's why it is critical that you don't rotate the object at all from it's intended position. Hope that was clear enough.

Hey im getting to be very good at making maps and now im working on an assymetrical one. It has a lot of geod double box ramps but i still need help to figure out how to make them geo at certain heights (box height, door height, etc). Go into monitor mode,
hit start,
scroll down to change gametype,
choose "capture the flag"
once the new round has started, go into monitor mode,
scroll over to tab 6 of the item pallete,
Flag spawn and flag cap points should be in that list

Did you ever geomerge anything in Foundry without using doors? People these days....
Anyways, place whatever you want next merged next to the crypt wall. Set it so it doesn't spawn at start. Place another box at the distance that you want the merge. Spawn the first item again by instant respawn, and brace. Start new round, hold the item you want merged, and the box will push it into the wall. Voila!
Just be carefull that the teardrop isn't in the wall. I've heard reports that if that is geomerged, the box will push itself back up so that the teardrop is visible again, effectively cancelling your merge.

The teardrop method of forging is a must while forging in the crypt. I think you're right about that teardrop glitch Bob. Salty and I have had a heck of a time regeoing a ton of geomtery because it comes back to normal after the game save. It makes sense now that you say that.

Mango figured out awhile ago that the teardrop side of the objects cannot be underneath.inside map geometry. If you try to do it that way, he said it will be fine until you come bak in after starting a new round/game and the object will have "popped" back out.

Right now I'm remaking a map i could not finish in foundry in the sky bubble. But, I can't tell if double boxes on sandbox are the same length as the double boxes in foundry. I know they arent the exact same dimensions because sandbox DB's have the same width/height, while foundry DB's are taller than they are wide. So can anyone tell me if they are the same length? thanks.

All I know is that they are the same length, i dont know about width. In foundry if you put a grav lift next to a double box that's standing up, you had to crouch jump to make it to the top. It's the same thing with sandbox.

Hey I was just making a casual infection map for some friends and ran into a problem. I placed sentinel beams on the map and they show up in forge, but when I go play it in custom games the weapons are never there. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

its possible that your infection variant has its "weapons on map" settings changed to a specific type of weapon (rifles/ snipers/ duals) if so, just change it to the setting that says "map default. "

Make sure they are not set to symmetric item spawn, make sure under the spawn time it is set to both or asymmetric.

I saw allot of people complaining about the geoglitch in the crypt of sandbox. I only like making MLG style maps so I suppose grenades going under boxes might be problematic. But then I noticed on Lockdown that grenades can go under the boxes... yet it is a sponsored map... So my question is... if you make a crypt map do you have to sink all the objects on the floor or does it really matter any?

place the object next to the wall, put tellys on the top, the left and the right. then insert the doors. its the same thing as doing it on through the floor but sideways =/
(I wrote doors assuming that you are talking about foundry, but doors can be replaced with other things if you mean sandbox)

You need to stack objects below the dropping weapon so that the stacked materials become fairly close to the height of the teardrop of the weapon.
after your objects are stacked, start a new round, and your sniper should be spawning on top of your newly placed objects, and if stacked high enough, you can delete the sniper

But yeah, he is right. I think Guardians Snipe is about 2 crates high and the Mauler is 1 crate high (don't quote me on it). You just have to place those objects underneath it so it will act like it has spawned on the ground. Alternatively, you could place a starting point right next to where you want to be and be really quick in turning into monitor mode and deleting it, because there is a very small amount of time where you are still able to edit it before it settles.

This is a quick tutorial on how to Float objects in the air without save quiting.
First you need atleast 2 people to do this. Next find out who is host.(usually by looking at the ground, turning into the monitor and then turning back into a spartan. If you are still looking at the ground, you are host).
Now that you know who is host, any player that is NOT the host can do this trick. Make the host party leader.
Now the player off host should be in the scenery menu with whatever object they wish to float highlighted. Have the host start a new round and as soon as they do, spawn the object. You have roughly 3 seconds to spawn and move the object in the position desired before it will freeze mid air(freezes just before screen goes black).
When the new round comes the object should be floating where you last left it.
This trick works great for drop spawning weapons as well. Hope this helps you guys!

Well to start with, they are basically Overshields (Red), Camo's (Blue), and Customs (Yellow) interlocked with the wall. When you interlock it in far enough, there comes a point where you can't pick it up but you can still see it.
As for colours like Purple, they are just two powerups interlocked into each other. Red + Blue makes Purple. Basically, Purple (Red + Blue) and White (Red + Blue + Yellow) are the main colours that are used because the rest of the combinations don't really look too much different.

Good explanation bob43, but to clarify, the point where you need to interlock the powerup is in the exact center of it, where the little blue dot/gizmo is. If that is interlocked (or maybe even just blocked? I haven't checked to clarify this.), then you should be able to touch the powerup and not pick it up, thus making it a base indicator. Also, blue lights and red lights can be interlocked to make a purple light on Sandbox, but a custom is still needed to make a yellow indicator.

Are you sure about this? It seems right, but I think you might be able to grab it even if this is the case. When I forged a map quite a while back it had to be about 75% in to be able to not pick it up. It sounds correct, but I'm not too sure if this is true. Probably should test this.

To clarify: I have tried this a good number of times before, and I have found that only the blue dot must be covered, but it must be covered ENTIRELY. Also, I am not sure whether or not being host has any effect on this, so XBL may also be a factor.

Yeah, I realise that the teardrops have to be completely covered up. But sometimes, when it is only JUST covered up (still completely covering the teardrop though), you can still pick it up. When around 65% of the powerup is interlocked into the box, then you don't seem to be able to pick it up.

If I remember correctly, a ramp wide is 18 degrees(that just doesnt look right, however you spell it), wedge large are 45, and if a ramp large is 26.3, an upright wedge huge is 63.7. Basically, a combination of ramp wide with other objects will give you consistent angles, or you can just make a custom angle by save & quit, or on a symmetrical just lining things up correctly. A ramp wide is 14 degrees, Wedge larges are a nice 45, wedge huges are 26.6, and ramp larges are 26.6. The closest thing to a 30 is 2 ramp wides.

To clarify: I am able to make 30 degree angles through the use of good old geometry. A 30-60-90 triangle is a special right triangle, so basically if you place one edge of a double wall - length object on the ground, and the opposite edge on the edge of something one wall high, the resulting angle of elevation will be approximately 30. The margin is due to human error and the fact that Forge is physics-based, and not vector-based like, say, Sketchup.

Okay well I think I'm missing something very basic here, but my default items on Sandbox don't want to interlock. Some items aren't disapearing at all at sometimes they don't even come back. However, I tried to merge two default large ramps together but the ramp that was set to reappear after 30 sec. never disappeared at the start of the next round. I still couldn't manipulate it, which was annoying. I had to wait a while then it disappeared for a second (if that), came back and I could move it now. It's really weird. Point is, can you merge with the default sandbox items?

To answer both of your questions, default objects will not dissapear untill around 30 seconds into the round. The way to work around this is to set the respawn rate to 180, this way you will still have 150 seconds to work while the object isnt spawned.
Also: Sometimes you might place a default object and then after you start a new round it will appear to reset to its original position. All you have to do is save & end the game, start it up again and your object will be in its correct position.
Anything you can do with a normal object can be done with a default object... its just a little more fustrating. You should check out my map which is made completely out of default objects. You can't, when weapons drop spawn they settle and then can't be moved or edited because they are no longer in their default spawn location, in order to edit the weapons you need to either get there before the weapon settles or place something underneath the spawn so that the weapon doesn't fall to far from the teardrop.
