View Full Version : New foundry map "Concussion". Over 75 hours put into it!

Hi! This is a 2 base symmetrical map with a twist... The bases are in the corners, with platforms on the sides. The only weapons are BR's, Carbines, and 2 Maulers (1:30 respawn with 0 extra clips). All the bases are identified by powerups. Concussion v1.1 has a damage amplifier top mid, Concussion v1.2 has Camo top mid. Your choice. Alright, enough talk, here it is:

Here (http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=iMpl0s1oN) is the link to my file share. There is 2 4's versions (Concussion 1.1 and 1.2), and the FFA version (Concussion FFA).
1.2 runs TS/CTF/King/Ball, 1.1 runs settings from my file share.
Thanks to SaLoT, That Blam n00b, and Namllu for the great ideas for improving this map. Also thanks to Abooort and TruE x Prodigy for keeping me company while I build it.

nicely done, all that hard work payed off we should play some games on it some time, pluse you gotta come check out my new map. i think its getting closer to being finished and its looking pretty good.

Hey imp, as you know after yesterday, this map really plays well. Although oddball plays a bit one dimensionally, CTF was a fun, unique experience, compared to most of the typical symmetrical foundry maps.
Slayer also plays well.
People, give this a shot. Unique designs like this could really change the way foundry maps are made.

Alright i still have your beta rough version and i still even like that one. This map looks really cool with some nice twists i cant wait to test out the Damp.
I have some sceanery opions based on screen shots. I can save them and upload them give me a miunte. But on the single boxes used as floor cover and to jump up to the bases. For sceanary why didn't you flip them over? I just personally think they look better you dont have to do it lol.
Ill have some more feedback when i check it out tonight.

Glad you got this finished, and employed my idea for the bases, and the changes to top mid. I'll definitely check it out when I unhook myself from GTA IV lol

Sorry man, I'm gonna be out of town from tonight till saturday night. Big local LAN, gotta win me some money. But you should just play lots of FFAs on it and tell people to download it, it needs some more exposure. I hate this stupid recognition system you have to go through, you have to have like 1000 posts in your thread and 2500 downloads on the map before people even think of taking it seriously...

Ya people, come on, I busted my *** over this map... with 530 views I would imagine that SOME of you have opinions of it, even based off of the screenshots. I'm not asking you to download it and play tons of customs on it, i'm asking for somebody to just look at it and give me some real feedback. thank you.

I like it. Pretty damn clean too. Only thing I think would be cool is if there was a way to get to your top bases from your bottom bases. I'm not sure how that would work though, and it might ruin your already good base design.
But hey, if you could come up with something that would be sweet! :-D

i played some ctf on it the other day. I liked the base design alot and the the plats work well with that overhang thing above them. I dont nesscarly care for the dumspter bottom mid though people run around it etc to get shields. Maybe do a two short barrier thing etc. But other then that it runs really well.
A drop down would be cool but im not sure how it would work.

Maybe to open up base to base shooting you could add a mid2. Remove the boxes add a platform for mid2 and mid3. To get to mid2 you can jump up from the geo boxes in by each base and adding a cat walk connecting yellow and green to mid2.

Maybe to open up base to base shooting you could add a mid2. Remove the boxes add a platform for mid2 and mid3. To get to mid2 you can jump up from the geo boxes in by each base and adding a cat walk connecting yellow and green to mid2.
I thought about this, but at the same time, when we were first testing out the map, we had a lot of cover issues (not enough cover or in the wrong places), but with all the testing, we fixed the cover. If we added base to base shooting, I think it would disrupt the circular flow of the map, and all the cover we spent so much time tweaking, would have to be redone to accommodate the extra shooting angles.
For adding a base3 to base1 jump, I think it's a great idea, and I'll whip something up next time I'm on. Maybe instead of having the double box geo'd in the corner, I could have a single open box or something? The only problem would be jumping down the box, you could sit on that ledge on the inside of the box. I don't know what I'd do about that. But I'll see what I can do.

interlock a fecne wall or normal wall into that space. That will elimate that issue.

Yes i understand what you are talking about but i dont think you completly understood me. But its cool. Next time i get on i will just do what i suggested but keep out Base 2 Base shooting. The thing about the flag bases on this map, is that there is ZERO cover, so it's not that powerful, but at the right time it can be used well. The problem is, if you go up there, it takes forever to find any cover. You either have to hide behind the flag box, and probably get naded, or jump all the way down to ground level and go underneath the base. I think that if I made it so that you could get from base 3 to under the base pretty fast, it would make everything flow smoother. And on top of it, I think it would be easy to implement.

I really like this map MUCH more than AMP. It seems to flow better, and spawns seem to be more protected, even though they still aren't perfect for foundry.
I really LOVE the back and underside of all the bases. Seems to work great. I hope this replaces AMP, honestly.

Not that it really matters, but I wish the boxes were upsidedown so they are nice and smooth. lol Other than that, you should put the powerup bottom mid instead; top mid is a power point and shouldn't have access to a powerup.

I would have them all upside down (trust me) but it looks really ugly having half upside down, half normal. I HAVE to have a bunch normal because they are open doubles (for the underbases). So yeah, that's why I had it like that. And BTW, the boxes are EXACTLY the same smoothness either way, and the big bump graphic is just that, a graphic, it doesn't effect anything at all except looks.
For the powerup, I thought about having it bottom mid, but since now it's a camo, it actually helps with the flow of the map, because obviously it would be a waste using camo in a power position. It's more effective on the map than the Damp, and it doesn't require a whole different set of gametypes like the Damp requires. I couldn't have it bottom mid now because the bottom is the location of the first hill, and the oddball, sooooo.....

I have been messing around with it for awhile and i can't do it cuz i suck at geoing but you have some single open boxes left and you could take out the dbl box in the corner and geo a open single in there for a drop down but then you have to move the bridges around a bit.

Yeah I thought about that, but like you said, those BRIDGES lol... It's impossible without teleporters. But that actually might be a good idea to use teleporters, I dunno.

This map is great. I can't tell how you how great this map is. I love getting up top and having someone on the week side of the level and you can spawn trap them all.
The only advice I would give is for the next update on this map make there be some where, where you can hide behind to have some protection because how it is right now is if you spawn in the base you gonna get shot and die really fast if you play against me.

What would you think if I put a teleporter on the 3rd floor of the base, that leads to the underbase? Like have the teleporter partially intertwined into the double box on the back of the base (the only vertical one)?
I think that is pretty much the best thing I could do for this map right now. This weekend I'll see what I can do to change up the bases a bit, and maybe add a couple other alterations I was thinking about. Thanks for the comments guys.

Idk how it may work but it could. Just move the brdiges out a little each way so they stick out a bit more instead of being directly over the base . Then interlock them to the ioen box. or idk if you still have coner walls left but i think you could use them aswell. For teles you may want to interlock a fence wall or wall on a slant between the two back bridges so it is like a triangle, then interlock it into the dbl box.
for the bottom tele i'd say put it right side up interlockedd into the Dbl box so they fall thru but the tele isn't blocking anyones view.

Fi you extend the bridges so they stick out like "horns" then you can delete the dbl box, and have just that area open. From that you could interlock a fence wall etc into it to make a jump up from b1 to b2. Basically is there a specifice reason you want it to be b3 to b1?

All I'm going to do is add teleporters. You'll see when I get around to doing it (haven't had my 360 in 2 weeks), it is way better than an open box.

Yeah I added teleporters. Not in my fileshare yet. The biggest thing is, teleporters are freaking retarded. They have to be placed just right otherwise they don't work. So it looks like ass. But it helps gameplay I guess. I dunno, I'm busing working on 2 other maps, I don't even care about concussion anymore, it's old news, it was just my first map and I wanted to get some criticism so I would be a better forger. Thanks for all the help though guys.
