Anything can become an addiction if you dont know how to regulate it. i used to play Warcraft 3 alot when i was much younger and that game pretty much took over my life. Now i just play games for fun and even when i really get into them i know when to stop. So yea, it can become an addiction, but so can anything else. for me, its just a game.

I try controlling my addiction to halo but its hard when somebody talks trash and you just want to own them in the face.:bang:
Ever since I got a 360 (Maybe a month ago) I haven't been skating as much with my friends.
And so they get pist and stuff.
But I try to regulate how much time I spend on halo a day.
I only spend about 2 hours then I go skate or do what I have to do.
I guess it's working out ok.

I played another game, and got addicted pretty bad. I got off the game but still wanted to play games. I play Halo now and I'm not addicted because when I started I had a strict schedule and played soccer almost 2 hours a day. Halo now is just what I do when I get bored, or am in the mood to play video games.

Seriously just take a break from it. I'm pretty sure you won't make pro bracket or make any money for that matter, so why put so much time in to it? I'm not trying to flame at all but you won't make enough/any money to support yourself. Go outside and go for a walk with your girl or something. Go read a book or go outside and shoot some hoops. Don't waste all your time away in a room with the lights off calling out "snipe 3".. Go enjoy life a little bit, there is a lot more out there than halo.

I was like that in my H2 Days, but I just eventually grew tired of playing 24/7 and just needed to get away from it. I took a 6month break from all things Xbox, a sort of rehab and I've been fine ever since.

I will probably develop bleeding eyes and a dulled sense of reality due to my long term habitual infatuation with Halo.

Halo 2 was for me. I played Halo 2 8-12 hours a day for about a year. But then the terrible attitudes of MLG players eventually got to me, and I quit. I can't play Halo for more than a few hours now; I've done and seen everything. It's boring now.

eh, no activity is superior to another. if a kid likes basketball, he likes basketball.. she loves to read, w/e....and if you enjoy halo... heh, great for you.
for me personally, its becoming more and more of a chore to play this game. at this point, im examining my accuracy, reactions, decisions... trying to figure out a more successful way to put up bigger numbers and win games.... and for what... after i have a decent game, although somewhat gratified, i cant always say i had fun..
but heh, what is "fun" anyways......

i play h3 all the time, and i dont even love it like i loved h1 and h2. i think its just because there arent any other halo style games out there. so i have to settle for h3. kinda like in american gangster where all the heroin in america was crap compared to the heroin in vietnam. until blue magic came along. h3 is a halo that has been diluted. but im still addicted to halo so i play h3
Nintendough.

I pretty much play halo all day, I'm homeschooled so I have alot of time and I'm either doing schoolwork, playing halo, or out skating or with friends. I wouldn't consider it an "addiction" though. I enjoy what I do so thats why I do it.

Agreed, anything can become an addiction. Or if you play alot of intense matches, you can be addicted to the adrenaline rush you get, which I'm pretty sure ain't so healthy.
I wouldn't necessarily say I'm addicted though. It's really hard to turn down my friends when they wanna hang and be like 'yeah... I'm playing Halo so I can't hang out' even though sometimes I make up excuses so I can keep playing... but most of the time I'd just rather go and hang out anyway.

I honestly don't see how you could possibly become addicted to Halo 3. When ever i start to play it i quickly have to put it down because the fun factor of the game does not come remotely close to that of Halo: CE or Halo 2.

About a 3 years ago (maybe 4) I would play Halo 2 all days everyday I couldn't stop although i didn't ruin my life or lose friends over it. I quit a few times but would keep coming back in like a week. But then in 2007 i quit like 3 months before Christmas. Then when Christmas came along i got my wish a Xbox 360 I played it for a few days but i noticed i played it a lot less then i did Xbox. I would only play like 2-3 house every other day i was surprised i changed. I think Halo 3 is an addiction and a habit but i guess it depends on how you look at it.

K well h2 and h3 affected me by addiction just as you. I dream about becoming an mlg pro and if u dont play u wont become pro. I took it to the next level. Id stay up for days at a time yell when i died saying f this game when i had to meaning to quit, id yell at teammates online and even at my own family members... Now i only play for like 3 hours a day. I got over it by youtube vids of fat kids on bikes falling or skating.

i'am a halo addict I cant go without playing thankfully i do it at night so i still have time for my wife and kid. But if i dont play before i go to bed I cant sleep and if i do fall asleep i have a game of guardian slayer or construct king going through my head so i cant get a good nights sleep but thats ok because halo is worth it and every morning i wake up i look at the clock and think the sniper should spawn in 3 seconds

I'm mainly playing a ton for San Diego, because I want to do well there. After that the most I can do is find a GB team, which is hard, so I think I am not going to play as much after that

I have to admit, originaly i was quite addicted to Haloe 3, But i thinkt that was to escape the *****ing of my ex, but now that we've broken up, I'm Limiting the amount i play, I have a new job and I'm enjoying being out with friends instead of playing games, but i still find my self thinking up strategies when i'm walking home at night lol

Games not worth it. Keep it up, and here's what will happen. You will look back and realize that you're a fat tootheless moron, who is broke, and can't get laid anymore. That you've spent years shouting at your television in your filthy living room, and you still can't get into FFA's with good kids. Break your halo disc. Find something active to do. If you feel it's an addiction, then it's probably not good for you. Take a break from it.

Habit and addiction, and i dont have a problem with that. It hasn't completely taken over my life i have friends in real life not on XBL, and girlfriends. Just becuase i play all day doesnt mean i dont have time for texting the ladies or tlaking to them between games. I mean come on i play about 5 hours a day on weekdays and about 13 hours on weekends minus friday nights (reserved for socializing) but i still have friends. Its not that hard people just takes effort.

It's a gaming system. Halo is just a game, and it shouldn't control your life.

I think that it can quickly go through both stages if you are serious about it. I would imagine that for pros it started out as a hobby... which grew into an addiction. Then they started earning money to support themselves and it became their job. The only thing you need to do is learn when to separate yourself.... if you start thinking you are seeing the familiar waving of a person with active camo... it might be time to take a break...

Oh yes I'm definitely addicted to Halo no doubt about it. I don't see a problem with it though. I mean I still go to school full time, work 30 hours, and go to the gym 4 days a week. I figure that once I get those basic requirements out of the way I would rather play Halo than do anything else.

What if he enjoys halo more than any of the things you mentioned. Most people wont make any money from a lot of the things they do for fun. How can someone say you do too much of somthing if you enjoy it? If he was outside playing baseball or football instead of playing halo would you be telling him to go play halo and not to waste so much time on a field? No offense meant to you but if he enjoys something, why shouldnt he do it if he can?

well halo is my anti-drug/ alcohol/ money-wasting/ girls/ friends/ going out in general.
kind of a love-hate relationship lol.. it keeps me out of trouble.. but at the same time keeps me out of normal life... but atm, its better. i love gaming, and i just recently got out of the drinking-all-the-time phase..... im saving money, since i dont go out.. only thing left is girls.. hmmm where do i meet girls if i dont go to school, i work full-time and i dont like to go out clubbing or to bars?

Definitely was an addiction for me, lost the best girl i ever had over it. I used to clock in at least 6 hours a day from the first day it came out to about May, then I took a 3 month break and finally did things with my friends again.
I still play about 10 hours a week, but only if my friends are playing with me, and only MLG customs and playlist. I can't play for more than 2 hours with randoms.
Edit: hahaha I remember my mom would always come in my game room screaming "Your addicted to this stupid game!"

The harder the game becomes the better it is. I used to play Social all the time, but that got so boring because of how easy it was. Now me and my team go in on our 50's, and although we win almost always, it adds something to it.
I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but I enjoy it alot.
