this means the ethernet cable is not in completely in your xbox. Make sure you push it in very hard and make sure you hear a click.

You could be using a bad cable so try switching cables or your router's port has gone bad so switch ports. Good luck.

There may be some sort of external hardware failure going on in your cable or modem.

Please post a detailed description of your Internet setup and I might be able to help more.

Im bad at explaining stuff. I wouldn't think there is anything wrong with the cable or router. They work fine when i connect to the internet with my wii. I would think its my xbox. I had it working again but it keeps disconnecting. I have high speed internet cable. I don't know if this is the Xbox internet connection, but there is a monitor icon at the bottom of my monitor opposite of the Start. It reads 10.0 Mbps while there is another one i guess the regular internet connection that reads, 100.0 Mbps. I hope that helps.

Contact Microsoft and tell them about your problem. Get a new Xbox is your best solution.

It's definitely a hardware failure (internal most likely) with your Xbox.

I think your ethernet port burned out on your 360, happened to me after a thunder storm...only way I was able to get it to work was using the wireless adapter (100$) so if you can ask your friends if they have one otherwise you have to buy the adapter.

Ohh and Msoft wont cover the burned out port so either buy a new 360, hope you get the rrod or get the adapter.
