View Full Version : Goliath vFINAL. By Wheezyy. please read

for starters i think everyone should give this map a chance. even though it isnt the best looking map, and there arent any crazy geos, I think its one of the best playing maps out there. Im not just saying that cause its my map.

I first started forging this map in the last week of august. I did most of it in that week, ( i spent about 50 hours in that week alone). v1 to v2 had the biggest change. the back court entrances were put in during those changes. I have to credit ZaXX for that idea. he was a big part early on in helping me test and listening to my ideas. After v2 i fiddled with the base parts of the map until v 5 when Cr0553d gave me the idea to make the back courtyard entrances even better. the latest version of my map has minor spawn tweaking and weapon placement changes. There are no long power weapons on the map. only Brs, and carbines. i added platform jump ups in between the bases and the outer courtyard walls. i added more cover in the back courtyard entrances to protect spawners from being shot across the map. This is a KOTH, Slayer, and CTF map.

I would like to thank the following people who made this map possible. HitTheLights, Bnasty, Rob, OrangeRemi, ZaXX, Baron, Cr0553d, Nexn, Fritzster, Kon Artist, Zanno, BFP Sticky, n0tjack, Mike(adius), Ron0c, Gr3at Ryan, Moglie, that other guy that sent me his gameplay upon request, s3m(nasty), and every one else who helped with the testing process.

I would not have been able to make this map with out the help of all of you. For that I thank each of you.

I still think this map isn't complete without a flamethrower - but that's just me.

On a serious note, I sort of wished you put a plasma rifle where the old custom was, and a custom under snipe. Regardless, this map kicks ass.

...and then I was listed first:) Lightz gave awesome ideas like Damage Amp, but wtf. I also sat in your party half the time while this map was under construction and it turned out pretty great and its been well liked by all of the well known forgers around here.

Sad Face, I did watch the map progress though and offer various feedback when I joined though. I remember seeing the map this is based off of and thinking how it wouldn't work, but it did (courtyard for the win).

Its such a great, simple, solid design.

Screenshots look really good. I just cant get a grasp on how the map looks in its entirety yet, but I just downloaded it so when I hop on I will let you know what I think of the map then.

Anyways good map, like the corners better now then they were with the fence wall ramps.

If any forge map is going to be added to v6, it really should be this one. Not just because it is the only one that really has the map flow that's comparable to the ones already used, but because that flow is completely new; not "midshipish" or a typical 2-base map. It's the impressive variety in such a small map that would bring something brand new to the pro games that is why it should be looked at more than it is.

I'm going to be putting this in my file share, because I think this map is overlooked and, strongly needs to be tested out more, so that killer KC who makes the playlist choices can see that this map can work for V6.

People really need to give this map a chance. I try to run games a lot on this map, but most of the time people take one look at the map and say something along the lines of "this map suxs lololol" and quit. Just because the map is, no offense to wheezy, one of the ugliest maps out there, that doesn't mean it's bad. It plays phenomenally, and is one of the best maps out there IMO. People have to learn where to draw the line between aesthetics and playability, as this map is one of the best playing out there. I would really like to see it in v6.

I got the update version-- I do like some of the changes, and I'm excited to see how it plays. I think you should push down the stairs, so you don't go flying off when you try to walk down them.

I jsut wanted to aska quick question. When you got into forge mode for this map in the MLG version, why are some spawns elevated from ones below them?

i put 2 spawns on top of each other to try and give the base spawns more weighting

I see.. I like the idea... And Im again trying to figure out this map, but did you consider doing different/more respawn areas to weight the map accordingly? Just wondering if you had and if it worked/failed?

Pretty solid map, I'd pick Goliath over ampilfied for sure.
