The map is 100% designed around Oddball. The gameplay is roughly based off of Guardian gameplay (hence the name, Protector), but optimized for symmetrical geometry. It has the same elements of play where there are multiple covered lines of sight, that have varying levels of strenth/weakness, but are all crucial when it comes to making/breaking a setup. The side "towers" (not really towers...) have views of each other like that of Guardian's Blue to Green, as in they are covered from the sides, but have a perfect line of sight to each other. The tops of the bases are similar to Guardian's S2 to G2, as they both have the most lines of sights, but is more limited in some respects, as you still can't see certain angles like you would from your tower, or other parts of your side of the map. The bottoms of the bases are related to those in Midship, as it has many exits/entrances, and it is set up in a way that camping will be punished.

I hope you can see some of the similarities I have mentioned, and if you don't agree with them or see something I could alter that would provide for better gameplay, please speak up. The map should be done within a week to a month, for all that are wondering.

There will be 2 or more short barriers on top mid. I don't have short barriers in sketchup, so I couldn't place them.

I remember you showing me this in-game and telling me what you were going to do, but it's nice to be able to see it now. I really like the idea. I like the base design a lot too. Good luck!

By the way, how much more have you done since you showed me? Any date you think it'd be finished? I'd like to help test when it's done.

Well the bases are completely finished, a bunch of the middle is finished, and the big wall that blocks off the map is about 2/3rds done. All I have to do about half the middle, do the weak sides of the bases, and the stairwells, and the geometry should be done. Then I gotta figure out spawns n all that. so i'd say about another week or 2 and it will be in beta testing.

You may want to double check how many items you've used on the sketchup vs. how many are on foundry. Also it looks like most of the map will be geo'd down and i can count atleast 45 geomerges total. That is going to be alot of work but very doable. Please take your time on it and do it neat as it does look promising.

It uses 16 bridges, which is the limit. For the geo's, I've already got the difficult ones done. All I really have to do now is the stairwells (should be easy), and the main wall that blocks off foundry. Oh and it is very neat, extremely smooth for walking on and very precise. Trust me I want this to be as clean as Onslaught or Amp.

I don't know your budget status, but if you have some extra stuff, consider having top mid elevate in the middle, and making it wider than a single bridge width (like how Midship had 2 bridges on either side of a wider top mid).

with all the objects in the sketchup placed, I will have right around $350 left. For the middle, it's actually wider than it looks because of the structure underneath it is also going to be used for walking. I might try and come up with a larger middle, but as of now, I have 0 single walls, 0 bridges, 1 double wall, but i do have a LOT of fence walls.

No offense bro but im hoping its smoother than Onslaught. If you actually looked at Onslaught in forge the walking is all do able and what not but is actually really sloppy in one extent. Looks nice and different. Looking forward to playing on this and seeing how it turns out.

I did also, but after re-looking at the cneter walkway of bridges, there is a line drawn down the middle that made it look like there were more bridges than there actually was.

I'm trying to mimic a Guardian style line of sight setup, but while remaining symmetrical. I want the bases to see each other perfectly (like S2-S3), and what I titled "weak sides" should actually be called strong sides, because they have a perfect line of sight to each other but are fairly weak, like top blue and top green.

BTW here is a really good quality pic that also contains some slight changes I've made to a couple things.

Anyways I am still thinking about what I can do for top mid, but I am all out of bridges, walls, and have only 1 double wall left. The thing is, I reallllly want to keep top mid a fairly weak spot, with the bases being the stronghold. Since I am trying to somewhat create a Guardian style Oddball map, I want top mid to be similarly weak. BTW I came up with a new name......Protector (get it, Guardian....Protector...lawlz).

No, implode has the right amount, foundry allows 16.

Great design by the way, cant wait to see it finished.
If you can figure out how to do it, it would be awesome to raise the middle slightly like cypher was sayin

I have got a few ideas I came up with, gonna find the right one before I decide to post it. It'll have to be made of fence walls + shield doors (to make the fence solid), unless I can come up with any other ideas.

BTW map is almost completely finished, middle is all done, bases are all done, stairwells are done, middle (cept for part im working on now) is done. the only things i need to finish are the "weak sides" and the new middle.

The new design for top mid that I was thinking of using, I realized won't work. But anyways, I'm thinking of keeping the same design for top mid, as having it elevated will only cut off crucial lines of sight from base to base, and is really just a big problem.

So for progress, the bay doors are really f***ing up some of the stuff I had planned, so I am working on making that not a problem. Also, it seems I am going to have to do some more epic geos, such as geo glitching window panels, and geo glitching doors. Yeah...

Maybe in a little bit, I'll edit the original post with my most up to date design, wither higher quality pictures.

From the sketchup it feels like the lines of sight are way too abundant as you can see base to base in most areas. The overall geometry is pretty solid but I would definitely suggest finding a way to throw in some pillars, or close off the bases a bit.

Looks sexy. I like seeing a Foundry map designed for something other than CTF or Slayer. Obviously there is no weapon placement on the map, but may I suggest placing a Rocket Launcher (no reloads, 2 minute spawn) on top of the middle bridge. It would provide a great setup breaker, but would not be completely overpowered.

Also, when you get this made, if you're looking for playtesters, hit me up.

Yeah, I'm also curious to know if there is any progress with the development of this map.

It's also nice to see this being designed with Oddball in mind. I like how you are taking some of the elements of Guardian Ball and applying them to a symmetrical foundry map. Hope to hear an update on this map cause it'd be a shame to have gone this far and not complete it for, at the very least, some beta testing.

It is very close to completion. I currently have about 15 super incredibly difficult geos to do, + weapons n spawns. I've kinda slowed down my forging as of now, because I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it in time for v6 testing. I wouldn't like to send in a sloppy version. So now I'm aiming for v7. The reason I'm aiming for v7 is because when the new maps from the mythic map pack come out, odds are that at least one will make it into the core 11, meaning a new version.
