Helvetica is among the most widely used sans-serif fonts. It was designed to create a neutral typeface that had great clarity, had no intrinsic meaning in its form, and could be used on a wide variety of signage. The typeface is clean, simple, and intuitive.
Such is our new map, Helvetica. You won’t find any ridiculously crazy merges, nor will you come across gobs of unnecessary aesthetics. This map is clean, intuitive, and means business. The beauty is in the design. Helvetica is the classic case of function over form (but the form ain’t too shabby either). The map is very versatile as well, working phenominally with both symmetric and asymmetric gametypes, despite being an asymmetric map. Helvetica is compatible with every default gametype. However, a few gametypes work better than others.

thanks for a pointless post. its been at forgehub for a couple weeks already, but I was hoping for more feedback than the "5/5 grate interloks." Maybe I expected too much.

this forum is for MLG oriented game play specifically. i dont think this map qualifies,

I've seen many a map posted here that weren't MLG in the months I've lurked here without posting, and if you actually read the map post, Im planning on setting up for MLG in the near future, as I know it will suit the games well. Sorry its not your average 2 bases facing with a bridge in the middle and some sort of high point along the side.

you should have waited until you made the MLG specific version of this map to post it.
on this site people judge maps based on game play, and since there are no MLG variants we cant really judge it can we.

Looking at it, I see potential for a MLG Styled Asym. However(And I am not trying to be rude here), Wheezy is right you should wait to post the MLG Version..
You asked for feedback though so here goes an attempt(Note:This is just from the pictures as I am not at my box, but it IS Que'd).
Drop the shield doors, And I am not a fan of lifts, and It looks like you can go into the back hallway which I don't think would work very well for the flow of the map.
Apart from that I can't give gameplay feedback as no one will play it for now..
But please make a competitive version and post again.
I will edit this post after I check the map out in person and give any other tips I can.

The back hall is merely used as a safe spawn zone for defenders, and isn't used much at all during actual games. The shield doors are in place there because there is a territory there and its necessary cover for players there. We originally had it completely enclosed with shield doors on all sides, but eventually dopped half of them due to some gameplay issues.
A MLG version will be here sometime this weekend, once I don't have class or work. But like I've said, I've seen many a map that wasn't MLG in the slightest here in the past couple months. I merely wanted to get in the minds of ome more competitive MLG players before undergoing the new weapon layout and such. Thanks for the first constructive response, RehnX

Even if it doesn't fit MLG standards, this is still a great map. The gameplay is fluent and it supports a lot of fun non-MLG gametypes that are a fun change every once and awhile.

I've read all forum rules as well as the thread and posting guidelines and rules. This is a perfectly acceptable map post. Please go troll elsewhere, and let this thread be. It is perfectly fine without you cluttering it up with needless comments. Try being constructive from time to time and perhaps a bit welcoming. You aren't a very good representative of the MLG community.

To Lights (with the S), map design actually looks pretty nice although FYI people are going to **** themselves if they see a vehicle or a shield on a map in this section. I'm looking forward to the complete mlg version though.

This map isn't bad, but i don't find it acceptable either. Zonked, we will get new members when they come, we have plenty of people here. The map was not built with competitive game play in mind. It may fit the post rules, but that doesn't mean its a good competitive map. It may be a different style then the multitude of 2 bases around, but just because its unique should not make it untouchable.
The map isn't bad, but again its not made with MLG in mind, meaning tis not going to hold up competitive wise to other two base maps here. Stop the fighting guys. Zonked, you seriously need to stop trying to act superior to people on the forums. Wheezy just don't even post if its not MLG. Thats what i was going to do, just let it die if its not what the community likes.

With all due respect. theres a vast difference in competitive maps and MLG maps. Yes, all MLG maps are competitive. But not all competitive maps have to be MLG specific. This map has been tested endlessly, and I assure you that is is chopped full of strategy and competition. strategic uses of elevation, pivotal choke points, multiple player options and routes, etc. Your opinion is your opinion, and I respect that, but your opinion would hold more weight had you actually played a couple games on the map. Thanks for the comment though. The trend in MLG maps in recent months is less than desirable, and extremely unoriginal. There are some great exceptions to this like the Hangout, Impact, Reverence, and some others, but they are few and far between. Im trying to slowly break that mold and give the community somewhat of a breathe of fresh air. If you don't particularly like it then that's fine with me, but please don't criticize the gameplay on a map you've never played. Much appreciated.

your map is good. i just dont think you understand that you should have waited until you actually made the map with the MLG weapon set. I dont hvae the problem with the map. i like the design. i also agree with what you are saying about 2 base maps, and their unoriginality. i was going to write more, but i have to leave

Well, I can say the map looks quite good.
I like the idea of using the entire area of foundry. Using the back area for safe spawns is smart. I sort of have a problem with the camo inside of the overshields. I believe you should move it elsewhere. Thats from the pictures.
I'll play sometime today or tomorrow and get back with more info for you.
Now to the MLG people. THis is a halo forge forum. There is nothing that says halo 3 mlg forge forum. Just because It is an mlg website, doesn't mean you can't have other maps. Forgehub is a halo forging website but theres an area for farcry maps. Also, while all mlg maps are competitive, not all competitive maps are MLG.
I've posted a mini game and puzzle on here and nobody *****ed at me. They just said nice map. Maybe i'll play for a bit when i get tired of mlg.

Weezy meant "This won't get accepted by the people here" Which for the most part is true..Your comment about forgehub however is ridiculous..MLG Maps are forged..They belong on forgehub...this is a competitive(Bearing in mind what we believe competitive to be) Forum that hosts a forge area(for the sole purpose of the competitive community no doubt).
Now to your last point,

Not starting anything, Weezy was technically right, he just worded it wrong in his first post and came off rude..But he was technically right.
On-topic:I played a rough(Made by me..woot) MLG Version of this map with MLG Rules, It played pretty good, Ivory towerish gameplay. The teleporter room felt awkward though...

and this point contradict themselves. Make your mind up. My map is FAR more closer to a materialized, completed MLG map than more than half the threads in this forum in the first two pages. I don't see anyone hassling any of the sketchup threads, most of which havent even started the build phase. Think of this map as a MUCH further along sketchup model.

I'm glad you liked it. I knew there was a lot of MLG potential in it. What exactly do you mean by the teleporter rooom? Do you mean the Attacking base, or the sniper tower/cubby? Could you explain on what you thought was awkward?

There's 2 mongeese in symmetrical matches, actually. They serve merely as quick transport between the 2 bases via the street underneath the deck. The turrets have 3 minute respawn times and a backstop short behind them specifically placed so they could be taken out quickly by a couple grenades, or a grenade and shot or two. Any forger who doesn't set their map up for a gametype that they can set it up for is an idiot. Its true. You don't have to like the gametype, but you should ALWAYS give players the option to play it if they so wish. I hate infection.. pretty much with a passion, but if I have enough items to set it up, you better damn well be sure I will. One Bomb works very well, though, as well as neutral bomb. The shield doors don't act like shield doors in most maps do. They do not fully enclose anything, or act as an entrance to an enclosed area. Camping between them is your death wish, as you have no cover on two sides, and its a major grenade trap. You have no view of the D base either, so there literally is zero advantage in trying to stay there. Their sole purpose is to provide a bit of cover for territory 4, whilst still allowing visibility in the absence of available fence walls. They do their job magnificently, thank you.

Dude, every Sketchup on here is by far a better competitive design. You haven't been around here to know about the original time of Sketchup, and the useful tool this community uses it at. This map is set up for mm game types. Your going to put MLG in after those, which makes this map a no no on my list and half the forgers/players in here. This is an MLG forum, where MLG style competitive maps are accepted, despite a few mini game type maps.
Everyone else, the map isn't that good and its obviously not MLG so let it die. No one post in this thread anymore.

As I have already posted, my intentions were to get into the minds of MLG players beforehand in an attempt to get a better idea of how I should set the map up for it. But I haven't gotten anything even close to that. Pretty much one positive comment, and a host of flaming. I also expected the people who wanted to play like the pros to act a bit more mature. Sadly, I was wildly mistaken.
And I never said anything about AR starts anywhere in this thread, just for clarification. Its cool I guess that you like to act big and tough and call my post and map, and essentially me, stupid.. .but really, grow up. You won't be able to hide behind your internet and 360 forever. So stop being so condescending and show a little maturity.. learn how to gracefully and respectfully disagree with a person. You'll go much further in life that way.

I just said that this map is closer to becoming an actual playable MLG map than those are, because barely any of them have any forging done on them at all. And trust me, Ive known, and had Sketchup LONG before fritzser released his foundry components. Its not new at all.

the map isnt stupid. the weapon set is stupid. and you thinking that no one will care weather or not it was an MLG map on the MLG site was stupid. you are not stupid
