It's Coming.....
For a long time now I have wanted to forge a map. I have forged in the past, but have not really gotten into it since the finding of geo-merging, which, by my admission, I had no idea how to do. I had my 1st version of midship featured on mlgpro when foundry was released, but this certainly was not my best work. So a few weeks ago I went in and started messing around and figured out the Geo-merge. I found it to be fairly simple once mastered, and it certainly opens up a world of possibility for foundry.
With sandbox on the way(presumably a bigger, better slate for forgers), I thought I would take the time to forge my very own great foundry map, assuming foundry to soon be less used for forging. I love all the community maps(Onslaught, Zenith, Lockdown, Amplified, etc etc.), and I feel like I have the talent to forge a truely great map.
My idea is fairly simple. A highly competitive map designed for MLG play. CTF, Slayer. 2 bases, 2 landmarks, a middle section that plays differently than any other map. Nade points, lines of sight.
The bases will be 2 stories high(no basement) with windows looking out 3 directions. A stairway or ramp will lead up from the first level to the second level, but tricky jumps will allow for access to the second level without having to go inside the base first.
The middle section was originally concieved to be a completely enclosed cone shape with an opening on top(think volcano) and 2 doorways. After messing around in forge I determined in order to keep the middle section the size I wanted I had to change the design. Here is a picture of what I have come up with.

As you can see I've kept the feel of a cone but with the bottom fairly open. I can forsee some crazy battles going on in this area of the map. Also, the lines of sight from the floor through bottom middle are, I think, truely awesome. I feel like Onslaught is a great example of a map with great lines of sight. I want to emulate this and I think this top and bottom middle will add a great dynamic to team shooting.
Stay tuned....
