After posting my new sketchup template, I wondered if anybody didn't know how to use sketchup. So I made this tutorial for those who don't know.

First of all, we have to know the basics....

How to move a double box into a corner....

Then you can click anywhere on the floor of foundry and there you go.

How to rotate an object:

When you place your mouse over the face of a component, you should be able to see red crosses.
This is what it should look like:

To rotate an object, just click on one of the crosses.If you want to make a double box ramp, move it 2 notches down.It should look like this:

Then you click on the endpoint which you want to move to the ground.Press the down key and then click anywhere on the floor.It should look like this:

How to do this:

First turn a wall corner like this:

Next...
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4207/tut12mq4.png
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8330/tut13wc0.png

You should have something like this:
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4711/tut14rv2.png

Then just click on the endpoint that you want to move to the ground. Press on the down arrow keyand then click on the floor.http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/1594/tut15vo0.png

There you go.

Here's a list of shortcuts:
O = Orbit
O+hold shift = Pan around
Scroll = Zoom in/out
M = Move
M+ctrl = copy object( exact same position as the one it was copied from.)
E = eraser
Space = select

If your stuck insde a wall or something, do this shortcut:

This is a great thread; thanks for posting it. Granted, sketchup is mostly trial and error, but still, it's nice to know a bit more going in.

Google's move tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e095bSztLs) is really good, just skip the first 90 seconds to get to where they start moving whole components around(the refrigerator) and they demonstrate really well how to move things.

Google movie tutorial is good, but there is a lot of crap you don't need for this application of it. This tutorial is great because it only concerns the forger with what he needs to know. I made a tutorial a while ago that got buried. I think the link is in my sig if you want to take some of my ideas.

Yea, I know there's a lot of stuff in that video that you don't need to sketchup for forging, that's why I made sure to mention skipping the first minute and a half. That video is the way the lightbulb went on over my head and I figured sketchup out.
