Heya all. Well, I really like playing MLG maps and variants. One of the game types that is neglected by MLG is VIP. Not entirely sure why, but I put something together to maybe spark some ideas.

I know Blackout is not used officially, and I know VIP isn't used officially. Oh well. But I tried to make a MLG VIP variant ONLY for Blackout. I have full details below. Please give this map/variant a try and post some suggestions or constructive criticism.

Map: MLG Blackout v6 (VIP Only Map)

There is 5 sequenced, rotational goal destinations (every 1 minute).

Between Bottom Lift/Top Lift (in air shaft)

Snipe 2
Library
Winning score is 50.
Time limit is 20 minutes.
Weapon layout same as Blackout v5.
No custom power-ups.

Explanations (Please Read)

Reason for Goal Destinations

The reason why I put Goal Destinations is to keep the flow of game-play moving, and it is an objective game variant and should be treated as such. This isn't a Team Slayer VIP. The destinations rotate every one minute, so every team can play OFFENSIVELY or DEFENSIVELY. Keep their VIP out, keep yours in (and safe).

Point System Spaghetti

Goal arrivals are 10 points to the team that get their VIP to the destination. This is a significant amount of points and which motivates the teams to realize that this is a critical objective. Each team can rotate to defensive or offensive positions temporarily, but the gameplay is quick.

Killing the VIP will reward your team with 5 points and deduct 5 points from the team the VIP lost. This is another objective in the same game, motivating each team to eliminate the VIP but as well keep theirs safe.

If the VIP kills an opponent the team is awarded 1 point. This is to keep the scoring system flowing. And to slowly redeem losses.

VIP Players & Their Jacked-Up Spartans
Actually the VIP's aren't that strong at all. They can take only double amount of head shots (that's eight headshots). But considering the VIP is a primary and most important target, obviously the VIP is going to take team-shots from the opposition in some situations.

Reason why VIP's cant pick up weapons is to keep gameplay balanced. It would just be too difficult to have a VIP camp on defense with a sniper rifle. VIP is limited to BR only, and unlimited ammo.

Please give this a go with some friends and leave feedback. I hope this is a fun and a new taste of gameplay.

I think the VIP should either be forced color white (or anything else bright that is easily distinguishable from red or blue), have a waypoint, or not be stronger. Right now, I could pump four shots into someone on the other team and have them laugh and melee me in the face because I had no clue they were the VIP.

Also, I'd make the shield recharge rate "unchanged". The VIP isn't supposed to be a tank. If anything he should be a bit weaker than the average player, but I'll leave that up to you.

he would be distinguishable because of the 2x overshields. he would be glowing.

is there a way that you could make it take like 10 seconds to capture the destination? kinda like h2 KotH?No, unfortuantly. I wanted to make it that way. But I could only make it score you points upon arrival.

To answer some other questions:
VIP doesn't have a way point because you need to use team work here. It's the same reason why you don't have a radar in MLG. Use team coordination and your eyes. Get your VIP to sneak up or vise versa.

I plan to make another VIP varient that will make it so that the VIP has no additional traits and cannot be distinguished apart from a normal team mate, it would be an interesting game at best.

Also, I'd make the shield recharge rate "unchanged". The VIP isn't supposed to be a tank. If anything he should be a bit weaker than the average player, but I'll leave that up to you. Well I discovered that when I was beta-testing this, I made it so that the VIP could not recharge shields but leech 50% per BR shot. However I discovered that the VIP was targetted A LOT, and team-BR'd often it still did not have a chance (this was on The Pit, whith Snipers and Rocket people etc.).
So I decided that x4 Overshields, with 50% Damage Resistance still makes the VIP recognizable, but just slightly stronger that could get away a bit easier but still make the gameplay FAST and not sluggish. The VIP is no tank I assure you.

I will try to do customs on this later..most kids will cry though. Well, the v6 map releases were just made, I didn't particularily want this to fall out of place. Even though Blackout was forged from a v5, but there were hardly any changes to the v5 to v6 maps anyway. I just didn't want this to seem completely out of place and odd.

I love the thought of it but it doesnt work that well in my opinion.Have you even played it?

Thanks for giving it a go you guys. Any suggestions to make it way better, that'll be cool.

Try giving him one extra bar of shields and 100% or 110% shield recharge rate. I was just thinking that in Blackout there'll be a lot of CQC and in CQC being able to take 2x the damage would essentially make you untouchable.
