As Baron's girlfirend I must express my total and utter sadface over this great yet horrible news that baron gets maps early!
WHY?
Because I am now barred from chatting to him, wihtout my xbox i cant be on party chat, and with him in forge he cannot be on his computer talking to me!
However, on the 24th I will be flyong over there and make sure he wont forge himeslf to death.
DONT WORRY GUYS, im not going to keep him from forgin but instead supplement him with nourishing glass of cola and hopefully lots of inspiration.

Awesome this is great Fritz, Kon, and Baron are on my friends list it is always a pleasure to see their work and play on their newest creation... too bad i can't get the maps early with them to help test like i usually do :(

Here's a shot for you guys. We took all the items from the base floor and brought them up. The teleport is the middle point on the map. We tried to get in the pic, but you can hardly see us. Sky Bubble is HUGE!

Lol jokes. I really hope that this extra time (2 weeks I think?) will give you guys enough time to make some awesome maps. I'm sure you have designs at the ready though. I'm just wondering, are you allowed to post videos, screenshots, and the likes or is there some contract that you are not allowed to release any more information to the public that you have to agree to? Cause if there isn't, post pics, screenshots, videos, information about ANYTHING. Some pics in the "What are you Working on?" thread would be nice.
But then again, if I got them now, I probably would just be forging non-stop. I'm sure you guys feel the same. Just little scraps of information will keep us happy for now, like will we have to interlock (is there bumps from box to box), is geo-merging still possible, how big is the budget, etc.
You guys deserve the maps now, hope that we see some kick-ass maps sooner than we expected.
EDIT: You fixed it. Never mind. Looks awesome, make canvasses please :) How much budget do we have?

The surface is big, the crypt is big, the skybox is ENORMOUS.
There are a ridiculous amount of objects, and big limits on them.
And the sunset is one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a video game.

Uhhh no I don't think so. I only lurk around forgehub. I have posted 2 maps though, the MLG one in my sig and a Super Smash Bros map that I made ages ago, but only posted it on there about a month ago. I thought they would like it. What map were you thinking of?

When I read the thing about there being "item limits", I died a little inside... I can totally see maps being totally ruined just because you can't place enough double boxes, or something... I'm hoping it's been tested thoroughly, so that maps aren't limited in items now that they've finally been freed in space.
I can't wait to get my hands on the maps, and I hope on March 3rd, or soon after, you guys have a good map for us all to see. :D
If Baron (or anyone else is on), did it seem like there were any ridiculous constraints? Like no higher than 2 box heights above the sky bubble, etc?

Crypt feels about the same size as Foundry. Since everything else is sooo big, it might actually look smaller than it really is. I'd say it's either the same size or slightly larger. I'm sure one of the guys will be posting an exact comparison soon.
Assembly looks great. I played a 2v2 on it and ran around it a bit. I'd say that it is very promising right now and I'm excited for more people to get it so I can start playing 4v4 on it.

So Crypt is essentially foundry, but with walls, more budget, and more items? So basically Foundry is irrelevant now.
Does Assembly have v7 potential? It looks sick from videos/pics.
So wait, you guys have been designing this map like on paper or w/e and are now building it? Thats insane. At least tease us a little. Will it be in Skybubble, or Crypt? Asym or Sym? Either way I'm super excited for this map.
Edit: Damn you KC! Details Pleaseeee :) Man i can't wait. Make sure you hit me up for testing since i will be getting HW the day it comes out.

Do all previous forge glitches work? Was there anything added to forge for easier map making, like being able to create the outcome of the glitches, without using them?

Why not? You have seen their designs, to put them on a different scale, and a better way of forging, who knows what they could spit out.

When was the community dieing?
The glitches will stay the same. The only thing that they can do is remove soft objects like doors, aka the stuff the made geo-ing easier. Interlocking is within the games coding.

When I quote someone in a post, you're supposed to read the quote first, and then read my post in context.
I was saying that IF the glitches were no longer valid, there would be no point in bringing up the best forgers because they'd be on the same plane as everyone else as far as the new forge techniques.
however, forge will be the same, so I TOTALLY AGREE WITH BRINGING UP THE 4 FORGERS THAT WERE BROUGHT UP...

This is awesome, it has actually got me excited for the new maps.
I was originally not going to even THINK about buying Halo Wars, but with MLG having the codes and our top fordger already at work, I will be very very tempted.
Very smart move by Bungie to let MLG have some codes. Now even the competitive MLG community is eager to buy Halo Wars for the pure fact that they get the new MLG maps ASA while before most people would just wait a few weeks for the map pack.
Money makes people into geniuses.

Orbital is bigger than it looks, and I think has potential for good gameplay. A little maze like.
Crypt has uneven walls, bumpy like they are made of massive stone blocks. There are no doors or similar objects to use to push, so all geos must be doen the old fashioned way. Im already working on a method to get clean results with this. I dont think crypt will full replaced foundry for arena maps.
The wall object peices do have soft edges, that make it perfect to use them as floor on skybubble, no bumps when they are lined up flat next to each other. Skybubble is looking to be the most promising part of the package. Im still finishing Calibre on foundry, and I will be helping Fritz, KC, Kon and Nexn with the secret map.

Yeah, it looked like the crypt had uneven walls, kind of disappointing. Also disappointing that there are no door like objects. I did spot a window-like object, so I'm assuming that won't work either. Looks like boxes come in various sizes anyways and we have heaps of ramps to work with, so hopefully geoing will be used less.
Very nice to hear that walls have soft edges. Good to see some concrete information. What about double boxes?
I think everyone is looking forward to the maps you guys are working on. If the quality of people working of the map will say anything about the map, then it should be the best map ever. No pressure :)

That's kind of heartbreaking... is it really that noticable? Is it bad enough to severely effect gameplay? Oh well, the info is still much appreciated. :)

Crypt feels about the same size as Foundry. Since everything else is sooo big, it might actually look smaller than it really is. I'd say it's either the same size or slightly larger. I'm sure one of the guys will be posting an exact comparison soon.
Assembly looks great. I played a 2v2 on it and ran around it a bit. I'd say that it is very promising right now and I'm excited for more people to get it so I can start playing 4v4 on it.
Fritzster and I have been working on a map for about a week now. We've invited Kon, Baron, and Nexn to join us. This map will be ready by March 3rd. It looks amazing already and I think everyone should be really really excited for it. It is top secret and I trust the other guys to not tell anyone anything. We don't want to spoil the surprise!
Try this; In Foundry, start up a KOTH in Forge, spawn a hill and edit the width and length so that the hill can cover the whole map.
Write the width and length numbers, then do the same thing I suggested in THE CRYPT. Compare the width and length to eachother to see which is bigger.

Can someone measure all 3 areas with respawn areas, mainly the crypt, so we can have an exact size, I would appreciate it vary much as I'm sure many others would to.
Also is the only reason this thread is still open is for people to ask questions to the people who have the maps??
Wow, major congrats. All your hard work has paid off.
I'm hoping KC, that we'll see some new maps in Meadowlands.
Also, I highly doubt this will ever work but no harm in trying.
The UK get the map pack next Friday 27th, and as I ordered off of Gameplay I'll be getting the map on Wednesday 25th. Plus as I'm a uni student I'm totally free to test/play all day. Hit me up with a F/R if you wanna start running 4's soon as possible. :D

foundry is 23.50 by 20.50 if you take a respawnn area the size of the crypt you cant see the width markers and the depth gos about to where the stairs at the bases is

At least it's a perfect square. I think that some good maps can still be made in the crypt regardless of how seemingly f'd the walls are.

They are good enough. I forget who it was exactly, but one of the people who got the maps said that they were bumpy like they were built with giant stone blocks (like they appear to be). It's somewhere in this thread actually.

It wouldn't be as accurate, but you could partially merge two objects, brace all around the one you're geoing, and then touch it...
Getting the depth right will be the trick I think.

the old method will work fine I think, the grid makes it easier to keep consistent depths too.
Im currently working on a canvas that should make things convenient for forging on any of the three layers.

I think that forgers should also create a symmetrical map using the corners as the bases instead of walls, making the distance between them longer.

Nice pic. Makes Foundry and the Crypt look really small though in comparison to Sandtrap. Looks like the perfect size to make some 4-bases though, being square. I'm sure that Kon already has some 4-base lined up :)

Extremely slim.
Think about it, IF you pre-order Halo Wars limited Ed you get the maps 1 month before Meadowlands. Not to mention the fact that bungie said "Weeks" til it was on the Marketplace. That means, anywhere between 2-7 weeks (if it was 8 weeks they'd say Months) before it's available to buy. Fact is, only way to get the new maps and get enough practice on them before meadowlands is to buy HW:LE. And MLG can't realistically do that to players attending the events.
However, I would def say with enough testing that it would be included in a v 6.1 update for Columbus. But hey what do I know ;)

Because MLG got 15 codes...5 are slated for giveaway, 6 are for MLG to use themselves for testing and such, and the last 4 were given to the current top forgers.
Not that you arent a top forger or anything, the four selected are just the most active right now, turning out a map or two each every few weeks.

I has made a Sandbox Canvas with all default scenery Items, weapons, vehicles, nades, respawn points/areas, Objective spawns/returns/markers moved up to the skybubble. There is a two way tele up there that links to the crypt, items can be dragged through the tele and placed there.
There seems to be some issues with setting default scenery items to not spawn, such as items not staying where they are put, I recommend you dont do it. I recommend spawning items to build your map until you run out of items, then start using the default items. Delete what you dont need at the end or if you run into budget issues.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I honestly dont see the point in anyone but forgers getting early access to a map. What is the average MLG player going to honestly do with them? There are not enough people to run good 4s and there are no MLG varients made. I do think that non-forgers should get them because otherwise there would be a lot of complaining and the like, but non-forgers are just going to find the skulls, get as many acievements as they can, and then be bored with them.
Well even if they are just dicking around, who can blame them? Secrectly I'd love the new maps to play around with, I wouldn't forge anything professional to start with, I'd just play stupid gametypes for the first few days.
Also, I think Puckett does alot of testing as he always seems to play with KC a fair bit.

By average person, I mean the people who say "this isnt MLG I wont play it". Sad part is, that really is the average MLG person. Most people dont know how to work forge at all, so I highly doubt they would attempt to make an MLG varient.

I was wondering if Assembly or Orbital would even be considered as a good map. I'm hyped for Assembly to come out, but was wondering what your opinion is about it. I hope it will make a great Slayer/CTF map.
Assembly definately has potential, I anticipate that it will become a favourite of many people.

So apparently a lot of communties/groups got mythic maps early. Forgehub obviously got codes, and I watched a live stream of Insane54 last night playing with a few randoms, so they must of had a random selection thing like they have here. Anyways you can hold the golf club, it's the size of a flag and has the same physics, you can melee with it too. The golf ball is about the size of a soccer ball, and I'm guessing these black holes you can spawn are holes for the golf ball :) . So far the Crypt sort of let me down and Sandbox in general didn't live up to the hype. Theres problems with objects, saving, ect. And the Crypt's walls are uneven and pretty much same size as froundry......saaaaaaad faaacce

the slanting walls in the crypt are about after 6 boxes high so it isnt much of a problem. If they dont make it to where you can play the ball after throwing it out of the sky bubble you could probably make map specific gametypes (like with flag) for whatever map. Im wanting to test out a map in the skybubble with 10 sec reset for the ball and see how it works seeing as in those 10 seconds no one is probably gonna grab the ball anyways if it was like guardian play ball. It also might give enough time to allow the ball guy to drop it and shoot some guys without letting the ball reset. It's at least worth testing imo

Neither of those will cause a playball either if you drop the oddball into them...

Any information on framerate issues of a fully loaded sandbox?
I believe the total item limit is meant to prevent any issues with framerate.... The massive budget on Sandbox would allow for an immense amount of items if you were to use the entire budget (not to mention the no budget glitch), and that many items would completely kill framerate... It's a shame Halo 3 is so beautiful... Because of the immense amount of detail in the game, the framerate is locked to 30fps, instead of 60 :(
(Yes... that's the reason CoD4 runs at 60 and Halo 3 only runs at 30fps... If a game can't hold a solid framerate above 60, it is locked to 30fps)

Oh and i have a theory on when the oddball/flag does not respawn when thrown into kill ball/ of the sky bubble. Because bungie wanted players be able to shoot through the levels they had to allow objects like bullets and balls and flags to pass through and could not turn one "off" and have the others be able.
this would be confirmed if you could shoo through the kill balls so someone with the maps can you check

No. With the news about not being able to play ball, a Lockout remake would be pointless since its main use was for ball. I think we're going to have to settle with Blackout for now, though I don't like that either.

the issues with the objectives not resetting will NOT be patched, as it is impossible.
The reset plane is either "on" or "off" as a part of the way this map is built. If the reset plane was set to "on" you couldn't ever travel between the three spaces (crypt, basin, skybubble) with the objective and there was no custom game level solution to this.
This is a known behavior. This is not something we will patch.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Can the time be adjusted to 10 or 15 seconds? Surely that's long enough to for another team to grab the ball once they finish off the other team.
