View Full Version : Solution for *complicated* Geos on Sandbox.

So I was in Forge the other day, in progress of making a map on the Skybubble on Sandbox. As Im sure everyone knows, the Skybubble has an invisible barrier that acts as a floor when forging. For a novice forger like me, some complicated geos are very frustrating and time consuming to do.

Anyway, I was trying to get through a very complicated geo. I was finding very hard to brace the object properly and to get it to go through the floor. So, I decided to stop, sit back and take time to think of how I could approach the geo when suddenly it hit me. It was more like an epiphany, if you will.

What I found out is that "Overloading" the map will get rid of the invisible barrier and will allow you to forge freely and easily get through that annoying geo. For those who are un-familiar with the term "overloading",
It is when you place lots and lots of Trip-Mines on the map and the game physics goes all topsy-turvy and certain features of the map are disabled. Such as the Shield doors and Gravity Lifts.

et... Voila!!!

This method is very clever and simple and it can help you to do the hardest geos in a matter of minutes. The problem however, is that this is not very practical to do for ALL geos simply because it only lasts until you start a new round or end game.
Nevertheless, It is very good for only complicated geo-merges.

I have no idea if this has been discovered before but I have not seen it on these forums and I really, really think it can help tremendously to all forgers. Good luck. Peace.

Well i don't know you feel about this but why you can always raise your lowest area to the map to about a block huge or block double off the floor elimintaing the need for geoing. It takes longer and it is rather unnecessary in the Sky Bubble. Also raising the map would give more of a fall when falling off the map meaning you can actually fall for a two or three seconds before dying giving you the chance of throwing a grenade or something... Just a suggestion but this does indeed work. Nice thread.

I can understand how this could be useful for very complex Geos.

But, like you said, it is too impractical to be used often.

But, maybe if you only need to get that horribly unreasonable Geo out of the way, this could be somewhat plausible.

@ Zonked:

Thank you for the input. I now finally understand why maps like Archaic is raised off the ground by a Double Block. But, Unfortunately, I'm wayyy too far in progression of my map to raise it off the floor.

ps. This hasn't really got to do with the point here but if you use Double Boxes as a floor for your map, it goes all bent and un-even when you restart the map. How do you fix that?

@RyanDodge:

Exactly, this is not for general use in forge. Hence the *complicated* < in the thread title.
But yes, you're correct. This method should be only used for the "horribly unreasonable Geo" :-P

Hmmm interesting. As Zonked said, for the Sky Bubble just build up a block. You can also teardrop in the Sky Bubble as well.

Does this work the the Crypt and on the main floor? It would be much more valuable there because that's where people do the majority of geos.

Thanks for this, I will try it.

I'm pretty sure you can't do this in the Crypt because it has solid floors, but I haven't tried.

someone did this and made it to where there was a stockpile of weapons just below the death barrier. It was funny watching 3 or 4 people run for them just to die a second before getting their.

It only works in the sky bubble. At least thats what a forgehub thread said when sandbox first came out. I don't see the need to geomerge in the sky bubble though.

Archaic should have been built of the ground higher than it is. People can get annoyed by how they die right as the fall off the map so i would recommend raising your maps up off the ground at least 2 blocks in the future.

Zonked's advice is what i would go with in future creations of yours. Good luck with the map.
