I just call out even when no one is calling out because they are atleast listening and it dosen't hurt. Plus calling out dosen't put you in the non calling out habit when you are actually trying out for a team or when you are playing with yours.

I've gotten to 43 by myself, but can't get past 43 with a team either...I'm always going back and forth between 39 and 43, I'm starting to get frustrated and not play MLG much any more in favor of just playing on my 50 in team slayer. I am surprised I can get as high individually as I can with a team of players better than me because I am definitely a support player. Maybe its because whenever I search in a team, its 47 high...

I find it pretty easy to go in by yourself and get a 50. I do what needs to be done to win, so it's easy for me to fill in the gap. Now if I go in with 4s, I end up losing because I have bad friends =/ and bad friends + other team of 4 = not fun

The problem at that level, or for me at least, was that it's terribly inconsistent. When I was getting my 50 I would go whole days where I couldn't win a game and everything was just horrible, but then next time I played I could go and win every game.

I got 4 or more 50 in MLG by myself, for me its the easiest playlist to get a 50 because you level up very fast. If you play LW it takes years to get there a 50, I had 90 XP and was only 30 (1st 85 times...) In the beginning of H3 LW was very easy to level up...

If this is about how well I do going in alone. Then I do very well. When I am not playing with my team I feel free to slay more. On my team I run a lot of objective and try to just be an all around good teamate. The thing about going in alone is that most of the players that will match up with you do not care to help you out in cases where they may die themselves. In a team situation this should not be the case. Being aware of that is key to winning games alone.

obviously skill matters in getting your 50, but playstyle matters too. if you're used to putting out a lot of damage and calling out your one-shots, your team's success is going to depend on whether or not your teammates listen and react to your call-outs.

i know i am unskilled individually, and i believe the only reason i am a 46 is because i make good decisions and communicate well.

also -- seeing as this thread is full of people who go in by themselves -- i'd like to point out to everyone that slayer games have 15 minute time limits. stop vetoing objective games because "they takes too long." it's a key sign that you rush. slayer is not a simple race to 50; you should not be charging around the map off your spawn. when you get teamshot to **** at bottom mid, you sure as hell better not be heading right back down there when your 5 seconds of reflection are up. i'm sick of it.

oh ;) and please call out before you die. you obviously have the good sense to have your mic turned on, and you're commendable in trying to help out your teammates, but why the **** didn't you call the guy out while you were still alive, instead of after he turned around and 4shotted you.

The callouts in the playlist are usually pretty awful anyway( calling ou once every two minutes their green
box 1 shot doesnt help.
The most important thing is to go in and have fun, dont worry about your rank at all. Eventually(if your decent) you will get a 50. Once you get it, you will realize it doesnt matter that u have a 50

There really isn't anything wrong with going in without a mic. A lot of people need to play quietly at night so they don't disturb sleeping parents, girlfriends, etc. I find as long as the people without mics are at least listening to what the people talking are calling out the team can still do fine!

I have to agree with everyone here though...I didn't take it too seriously. I never have games with good connections so playing expecting to win is silly.

lol at most of the people in this thread. In halo 3 you have to be able to do everything at any given time, wich is why most of you are 45/46 and claim your "support/objective" players, haha, thats just an excuse for not being good enough, to get a 50 you have to carry to win.

I play mlg all the time at level 50 and i still get horrible teamates from time to time, you just have to be good enough to keep your cool and carry them, its not like the mlg 50s got it because of their teamates, they got it because they have the indvidual skill needed to win regardless of teamates.

edit: one more thing to help you get a higher level is when you get out br'd, out juked or just outskilled in a situation, instead of blaming xbl, or saying "dumb noob got lucky", go into theater and learn from it. That and playing at least 25 -35 mlg games a day for a few weeks/months whatever, thats how you get a 50.

I cant really do it by myself. Its a lot easier with one other person you can go in with. I know some people that get SO lucky going in by themselves. I mean technically, its around a 50 50 chance your going to win, and some people just get their half of the 50 A LOT more. I remember when I was a 47 trying to get my 50, and i lost it in one game. After that I won exactly 10 games in a row going in by myself to get it back. The two days that followed I went in by myself, and with one other person and dropped all the way down to a 42. It just seemed I was always on the micless, booster, DNF central team every time. But I do know someone that goes in by himself and wins ALL the time, and he doesn't even do great. Another thing I find is that if your around level 49/50 and your going in alone its a lot easier to win than if your going in with the 46's. I don't know why, but theres something about the 46's and below that just sucks.(If your a 46 and know that you can do better, this doesn't apply to you). Like, most of them know what they're doing but at the same time really don't. Most people 48 to 50 have a good knowledge of how to win, and its a lot easier to win with them going in alone.

50. If you can reach 48, you can reach 50 because basically anyone who is a legit 49/50 will know what to do, making it easier to win with randoms. There is a huge skill gap between 45s and 50s. If you're good enough to be a 50, you can easily carry yourself past a level 45.

The thing that really ticks me off about going into MLG by myself is I usually get one of the following:
1. Teammates without microphones.
2. Teammates who don't call out.
3. Teammates who can't set up.
4. A teammate who is a booster

2 50 in MLG by going in alone. One account is now a 48 GT: CliZzuTcH o9 which I sold. Then I sold my main when I got RROD which was a 50 in MLG, Dubs, and Slayer and a 46 in Snipers. I went in by myself all the way til my 49, got stuck there, then went in with a local friend who has atleast 4 50s in MLG and I got my 50 on my old Main Account.

Now I play on my old warm up account which is now a 40 in MLG, but I will get it a 50 in either dubs or slayer, it's currently a 42 in Dubs, 40 in MLG, and like a 35 or so in Slayer. I'm working on the account though! Haha...

The main problem with going in by yourself is that most of the other people who go in by themselves are used to playing by themselves and not with a team. This means that they don't understand how to work as a team or how to be a selfless player. The callouts they do make, if any, are usually of poor quality and only when they feel like calling something out (like when they're dead). On top of all that, the decision making and general awareness is terrible. Since they aren't used to playing with a team, they aren't used to worrying about where their teammates are in relation to themselves, what power weapons/powerups they have, where they will be going, etc. They call out things that are just terribly unimportant and irrelevant, and complain when they die. They feel like they have to explain to the rest of the team during the game how they died and that it was xbox live's fault instead of just admitting to themselves that they aren't in fact the best player in the world.

I could go on forever, but I feel like you get my point by now. If you go in by yourself, don't expect any teamwork. Occasionally you'll get some, but for the most part, you won't receive help when you need it, and you will lose because of it. When you finally meet someone in MM who's a good team player, send him a friend request and play with him more often. Start to build up your friends list with good people who you can get along with, and eventually you'll be able to form a team, or be asked to join a team.

Also, it's much easier to rank up when you go in by yourself. This is why you see a lot of 50's who really don't deserve to have that rank. If you can go in with a team of 4 50's over and over and maintain that rank, then you deserve it. Most people can't, and so don't deserve it.

I've gotten up to 44 by myself. A team always helps it seems. And it's more fun with a team. I've experienced twice the laughs when you're playing with some people you know. Usually randoms don't have mics and if they do are annoying. Don't get me wrong though, the other 20% of randoms are cool as ****.

I got my 50 with little xp then when i quit and came back when down to like a 47 then after about a week of playing I got my 50 back by myself again this time with over 800 xp in MLG playlist. It is pretty easy as long as you can communicate with your teamates and get along most of the time you will get matched with 15 year old kids who trash talk each other and you can't let it get to you. Just keep the motivation going and you will see a lot more wins in the playlist by yourself.

Also watch the player indicators and try to work with them as if you have been teaming with them for a while. It will help phycologicaly.

Going in by myself is the reason I'm so low in the playlist, me getting put with good teamates is almost a miracle, I've got to a 48 with some freinds but on my own I can only get a 36 :( I go like positive 13 every game at lvl 36 and in customs I can poop on 50s any time. Skill > Rank all day!

The thing that really ticks me off about going into MLG by myself is I usually get one of the following:
1. Teammates without microphones.
2. Teammates who don't call out.
3. Teammates who can't set up.
4. A teammate who is a booster
These 4 reason are the main reasons i hate MLG by myself other then that MLG by myself is no problem and on my old account i got up to something like a 44.

Im Getting Tired of seeing this, I call out and as soon as You complain I mute you. Its to distracting to hear a 13 year shriek and scream.

You need to use your instincts to play. If your teammates Icon is Yellow he is in a Fight. Go Help him. Not much to call out!

People Do Not set Up unless you pla 4's sory even if its all 50's in the game as randoms we dont set up! sorry

I have leveled up pretty consistently, but will hit periods of crappy teammates-o-rama. I am a very team oriented player, so when I have a team that just baits people instead of team shotting, or doesn't call out, I am not nearly as effective as when I have good teammates. I will get to 50 eventually (47 was the most recent high before a string of quit outs and ***** players) but the path will be subject to several setbacks along the way, but I guess that's just halo.

i reached 36 or 37 without ever teaming with anyone. even if they offered to after a win. At this point I just had bad luck and would run into like 3 matches in a row where someone quit. i even had a team slayer on pit where i went +16 and we still lost cause of 1 idiot on our team. its just retarded.

50. Sometimes you just have to take charge. Getting mad won't help anyone, so you just have to not get mad if they cant pull the sick play you need them to. Help them out, say good job even if its just an out BR. Even though we've all played this game a lot, just remind them what to do on the gametype. If its Narrows, control up top. If its Guardian, never go bottom mid, etc.

Some people just have better MM luck than others; also, some people are like Naded and can take an entire team on their back easily, others (often support/objective players) need their teammates to step up alongside them and are hurt much more by derankers/quitters/no-mics/party-chatters/really lousy teammates.

Also, if you're in the MLG playlist, WTF are you doing in party chat? Now I can't hear your callouts and you can't hear mine! :bang: :bang: :bang: In short: Callouts and party chat don't mix, period. Now how do I tell them that?

are you serious? maybe you just get lucky but when i play with kids under 40s i get quitters 95% of the time and sometimes i go +20 in team slayers and we lose 50 48 or something. im not lying.

Reached 50 on my own twice, while simmultanesously maintaining over a 2.0 k/d spread. My main acc (StratiFY) has over a 3.0 k/d spread with a 49 in mlg. Nearly 12,000 kills and like 3600 deaths. Pretty neat I guess.

I got 4 or more 50 in MLG by myself, for me its the easiest playlist to get a 50 because you level up very fast. If you play LW it takes years to get there a 50, I had 90 XP and was only 30 (1st 85 times...) In the beginning of H3 LW was very easy to level up...


I noticed that you rank up super fast in MLG. On my old account (first XBL account ever) I played MLG and sucked balls. I then started to play that account only for EXP reasons and to get better. I still do.

Now onto my second account. I'm a 25 in MLG in like 30ish games. I'm a 30 on my old account in 130ish games. Big difference. Whats the highest I could get on my new account going as a random?

I think this is a really "ify" subject because there are so many random things that can prevent someone from getting one regaurdless of how good they are


But at the same time it does require skill to get one by yourself that some people don't have, even if they made an account that goes up 4 levels per game some people still wouldn't be able to

i'd challenge you to get a 50 on my "main" account... used since H2 dropped, through the beta, through the "learning stages" of early H3.

i'm beyond convinced that the account, at this point, is XP LOCKED. i've played with friends on new accounts, watching them ascend into the high 40's while my main account sits locked at 38-39. win after win after win after win after win after win against players in the high 40's. nothing changes.
