Ambush Upsets Str8 Rippin in Winners Bracket Round 3

Ambush Upsets Str8 Rippin in Winners Bracket Round 3

Quote:
In an absolutely amazing five game series, Ambush has just knocked the San Diego Champions, Str8 Rippin, into the Losers Bracket. With just about everyone in the venue crowded around the station, Ambush pulled off possibly one of the greatest come from behind victories in MLG history. Trailing 37-47 in Game 5, Team Slayer on the Pit, Ambush mounted an unthinkable comeback, netting 13 of the next 14 kills to take the match 50-48. The crowd went absolutely insane. A late game OS grab may have been the deciding factor, as a member of Ambush was able to grab the power-up unscathed, which allowed it to full charge. He then quickly took out two Str8 Rippin players who were also at the OS, and weakened another, who was quickly killed. This tied the game at 47. It was at this time that all hell broke loose. With the crowd screaming, it seemed as if every player on the map decided to rush at the same time. While players yelled call-outs as loud as possible, trying to be heard over the frenzied crowd, the final kill was a timely assassination in the sword building. Str8 Rippin will now have to fight their way back through the Losers Bracket if they hope to have a chance to repeat as Champions. Ambush, in the meantime, will now play Triggers Down in the Winners Bracket Semi Finals. On the other side of the bracket, Final Boss will battle Instinct for the right to appear in the Winners Bracket Finals. Make sure you check out all of the amazing Halo 3 action tomorrow from MLG Orlando.

That is crazy.

I don't care about the "lack of a skill gap". Halo 3 is so much more exciting tournament-wise to follow than Halo 2 was. It's awesome to see these upsets.

What is it with the champions from the previous event losing so early? Final Boss, now Str8 Rippin...did they get cocky like Final Boss did? (I thought they would have learned their lesson about being cocky from Meadowlands...)

Totally! It's like March Madness - it all comes down to who wants it more at any given moment. I know it's not random because if ANY team out there right now played Triggers Down they'd lose just like anybody to play Str8 Rippin at San Diego would lose.

You can't even make this stuff up.
