After enrolling into a fine arts class this year we were introtuced into the concept of Left hemispheric people, and right hemispheric people.
Left being your left brain. You use more of a mathematical sense of doing things, You run numbers through your head without realizing it. Some extremely right brained people un-consciously count everything they do. You use general logic. Right being your right of course. You are more of a reaction based person, Something happens, You figure out what you can do to either make that situation good or bad. Right brained people are generally out of the box thinkers. Now, this sparked my thought into why some people play differently in halo 3,And why the teams are having a hard time staying on top, and letting a lot of randoms get semi pro. Heres my reasoning for this strange string of events. Let's say you're a left brained person, If you are playing a game of capture the flag on the pit, You are constantly thinking of how to push up. Overwhelm the other team, and pull that flag then control their courtyard spawn. And you are constantly checking your clock to see when everything will be up, You may even run through mauler spawns in your head. These people use logic, Even down to using math with logic. Now, Let's take a look at the right brained player who is told to push up to go for the cap. This player is more likely to focus on slaying the opposing teams players. In this persons mind, If he keeps the other team slayed at the appropriate time, Then he will help his team win the match. This person is usually a main slayer/support player. The right brained person will relate to previous experiences, and remember what he did to help his team win. Both of these players are playing exactly the way they should. They are both doing their part in helping out their team, Just in two completely different ways. Right? Now, Lets look at the balanced person. Most people that play video games have a one way mind, They are either slayer, Or objective. The balanced person tends to be the smartest player when it comes to gaming tasks in halo 3. Why you ask? This person will slay, Go for the objective, Make mathematical and logical explanations of what the team should do, Control spawn times and all around pay attention to everything going on. They are great at multi tasking. Now, im not saying that this makes all the difference in halo 3, But the team chemistry that has been happening with teams is because they have balanced players, Or they balance their objective players with slayer players. I'm definitely not trying to get everyone to do a brain test to see if you are generally right brained or left brained, But this is in my opinion where team chemistry comes from. If you are curious if you are right brained or left brained, Check out this website, It's fairly interesting and easy to do. Heres my score Left Brain Dominance: 8 Right Brain Dominance: 10 I'm almost balanced. But i tend to be a slayer / support player. Test out your brain here. http://www.intelliscript.net/test_ar...n_left_brain_2 Takes only a few seconds to do. Thanks for reading. * This is not a perfect scientific quiz, it is a general assumption based off of the answers you provide. Last edited by jspgameboy : 08-16-2008 at 05:51 PM. |

Left brain Dominance: 10
Right brain Dominance: 11 I tend to play all roles. At times I can play objective. And when I'm on I like to play support and slayer. So if I have this right. I'm more of a gut instinct guy? |

Yes, you probably go on instinct every once in a while, Might jump out at risky moments just to end up saving your team in the long run. |

Left Brain Dominance: 7(7)
Right Brain Dominance: 7(7) Well, in all honesty I don't think I'm balanced at all. I try as much as I can to time weapons, but many times this only comes at my reaction at looking at the time. I always know simple timers, like Snipe (being it always is 12:27, 9:57, etc.), and usually I always know when OS and Rockets are up near the beginning of the game but often times when the game gets long I phaze out and forget the spawn times on the weapons. My emotions do effect my play style in a huge way, but I'm constantly trying my best to control my emotions so that I don't do bad because of it. It's been hard though, and often times I have to tell myself to "play smart, don't freak out" as I'm playing (say if there's a bad host or something). So... I feel as though as if I have a right brain dominance that tries to add the logic and math that of a left brain person. Interesting post though. |

Possibly, you probably gained that from going through school, They start kids out using their right brains for many years, then instantly switch them to number logic. ( Middle / high school) |

LBD= 8
RBD= 9 I'm an all around player. I am rather passive though, that is my biggest problem, is lack of aggression when pushing in for kills. I don't make many instinctual decisions, because I sort stick to a plan of my own, even as a random. I know where I will usually be at around every certain time of the game on each map. Having to ad lib makes me a better player, though. |

Left Brain Dominance: 7(7)
Right Brain Dominance: 6(6) I play support/objective. I usually play passive but can be aggressive when I need to be. I tend to worry about my teammates more so than myself. I'm always calling out the re spawn times. I consider myself the biggest communicator on my team.
