Swami's Top 20 Study Films of Columbus

Hello MLG community, this is the 1st public Swami's Study Film Session of '09. I've carefully hand-picked my Top 20 films that I felt would be most useful for any of you gamers looking to fine tune your style of play and decision making by watching how the pros do it. Keep in mind I couldn't select every single great game from everyone's PoV so I chose a handful of them. I hope many of you can find this resource useful as there will be a Top 20 Film Session created by yours truly for each remaining event in '09. Thank You.

Format is Kills/Assists/Deaths (Ball Time)(Hill Time)

I've also added particular notes from each film that might be useful or something for you to look for while studying the gameplay.

Objectives

Walshy – Instinct vs End Result WBR1 - OddBall Lockdown – 22/21/18 (80 Ball)
*Good job not forcing his way towards the ball but more so creating easier openings and clear routes to the ball.
*Even with the multi-kills, he never lost focus of the objective.
Soldier187 – Classic vs Triggers Down WBR2 – OddBall Lockdown – 32/20/21 (84 Ball)
*Great sense of timing throughout the game.
*Superb nades and I love since it's Oddball, how he underthrows his nades to where you usually would so it cuts off that route and buys the ball carrier some valuable 2-3 seconds of time.
Icevayne – Pistol & The Jets vs AMP North of 49 LBR3 – CTF Pit – 23/9/9 (3 Caps)
*One of the most if not the most fundamentally solid Obj/Slayer CTF Pit performances at Columbus.
*Excellent positioning when executing the flanker role & definitely shows superior in-game intelligence.
LegendPimps – Classic vs SQ LBR7 – King Construct – 23/18/18 (95 Hill)
*~12:36 off mid gold respawn Legend keeps a low profile by throwing nades instead of attempting to put shots on hill which would attract fire on the new spawn.
*At the 7 Minute hill, great job on staying main floor and keeping SQ pinned down in basement instead of trying to flank and possibly lose top control.
Soviet – BtH vs FB LBR8 – Oddball Lockdown – 31/17/25 (131 Ball)
*~8:25 mark Soviet does a sick manuvuer a leaves the ball Top A, while if you're Ogre 2 it looks like he's playing it, he then whips around and flanks Ogre 2 for the sneaky quick beat down.
*Smart player, establishes his slaying game first before he starts to go for ball control. And after the first few minutes of slaying, he's in such a groove that he can move around the map with the ball and slay on the fly with ease, great film if you're an Obj/Slayer.
Ogre 2 – FB vs Classic LBR9 – King Construct – 31/23/23 (115 Hill)
*A great film that shows Ogre 2's experience in full effect. Off the charts awareness, great nade points, and good use of the super slide into open basement near the end of the game.
*And some sleek rocket usage on the final rocket spawn as well, something Puckett can truly appreciate.

Slayer

Roy – Instinct vs BtH WBR2 – CTF Onslaught – 31/20/11
*Excellent slayer performance, in this film you get to witness the best br on the circuit at work, and also a phenomenal support role played as well on the fly.
*~27:25 Roy doesn't go for the flag and stays alive just long enough to have his teammates respawn while not challenging much, therefore preventing the counter cap which could've shifted the momentum.
Pistola – TD vs FB LB Finals – CTF Onslaught – 20/10/9
*Great top control by Pistola for a majority of the game setting up his multi kills and opening up flag grabs for Heinz
Ace – SQ vs HaE LBR5 – King Construct – 42/17/23
*Not the best br performance I've seen but he more than makes up for the missed shots with a fatally ill strafe and some supreme awareness
Soviet – BtH vs Carbon LBR7 – CTF Pit – 18/11/5
*Once again a very intelligent player in this film, during the 1st clap cap notice how even though Soviet is getting shot by Anarchy from Red Flag and gets team shot from Red Turret/sword area, Soviet stays Red Platform to buy 3-4 valuable seconds for Demon D to get the flag through Empty Hall.
Strongside – SQ vs Classic LBR7 – OddBall Guardian – 35/22/21
*Excellent job controlling the S3 and Camo locations always causing havoc for Classic as soon as they get off spawn.
Shockwave – CbN vs HaE WBR1 – Slayer Amplified – 18/9/12
*Excellent flanking throughout the game
Walshy – Instinct vs eR WBR1 – Slayer Amplified - 18/8/5
*At the 13:35 mark, Walshy performs a P3 Red to Top Red jump which sets up numerous assists and the triple.
*I love Walshy's focus to maintain the high ground on Amplified as much as possible which many players tend not to do, he uses it to perfection.

Support

Pistol – PnJ vs CyP LBR5 – Slayer Narrows – 9/14/8
*Beautiful use of L2 and R2 to pop shots into CyP players and dip out and have them cleaned up.
*Very effective aggressive support player if that's what your own style is similar to.
Tizoxic – Ambush vs SQ LBR6 – OddBall Lockdown – 26/32/24 (66 Ball)
*The definition of a “dirty work player” this game, always in the right places to either protect or obtain the ball while never ceasing to put shots into the opponent.
*Always makes it a task to minimize the firing access to his body by positioning himself perfectly using every item on the map as cover no matter his location.
Clutch – BtH vs CbN LBR7 – Flag Pit – 14/18/12
*Once again a very aggressive style similar to Pistol's.
*Became a thorn in Carbon's side being in their base a majority of the game opening up map control opportunities for his team.
Ogre 2 – FB vs Classic LBR9 – Slayer Amplified – 6/17/8
*Ogre 2's low kill count does not do his performance justice, he dealt major major damage to Classic all game.
*Tended to stay on the floor of the map surprise attacking Classic from underneath bases, in the dark corners of the map, and on top of the bases, a very unpredictable player.
Elamite – Str8 vs TD Finals – Slayer Narrows – 12/13/7
*Love the beautiful nades flushing TD out of cover leaving them wide open for the rest of Str8 to clean up.
*His support shots kept the TD snipers off beat and negated most of the game.

Edit: I removed 2 due to me not wanting 2 of the same player in one category or else Elamite would've had 2 films in the Support section and Walshy would've had 2 in the Objective's category. Sorry :(
