In this installment the Get Better video series, MLG Analyst Brick dissects a game of Isolation King of the Hill with Ogre 2. This is the third and deciding game between his team, Final Boss, and Str8 Rippin on the 2008 Pro Circuit Ladder. Many fans had waited to see this match since the ladder began, as these are two of the best Halo 2 teams ever and feature some of the biggest names in all of competitive gaming. Don’t Chase. Many beginner and intermediate players tend to overextend themselves. As you start to play on organized teams, you’ll learn the importance of positioning. Sometimes placing a few shots on an enemy to lower their shields is all that should be done. In other words, let people go! This notion is especially true in an objective game where you’re not trying for kills but for a capture or objective time. Notice at the 14:20 mark when Ogre 2 lets Tsquared (T2 is Rippin) drop down from Sniper to Rocket and then makes his way up to the hill.

Uh oh! Out of Ammo! At 13:40 Ogre 2 runs out of ammo. Instead of becoming useless he uses information from his teammates to run and get an assassination on Neighbor. This move demonstrates the importance of positioning and how a great player can be effective without firing a shot.

Dying but not dead. At 13:00 Ogre 2’s shield is drained as he shoots up to top middle. Knowing that the hill is going to move to top dirt, he ducks down and gets in the hill despite being injured. If you know your opponent's location, you can still gain objective time while injured. It’s this type of contribution that can mean the difference between and win and a loss.
