![]() Jumping is an essential element of gameplay in Halo 3. A good jump can be the difference between life or death. It can be a way to garner more time with the oddball, or allow you to escape with the enemy's flag. Often though, the most useful jumps are the most difficult to pull off in a pressure filled situation. Fortunately for those who want to learn, there are lots of videos showcasing map-specific jumps, as well as many of the techniques that can be employed to increase jumping ability. Basic Jumping-- Practice running through maps, jumping up ledges, and onto ramps. Learn to use jumps that make running from point A to point B more efficient. Don’t jump needlessly though, as you have less control and therefore less ability to dodge shots when you are in the air. Spice up your strafe-- Utilize the jump to throw off an enemy in a firefight. Timing a jump to avoid fire is an excellent way to give you that extra shot that can be the difference between life and death. The key to using this strategy effectively is to time your jump right before the enemy fires their last shot. If done correctly, they will likely shoot you in the chest, rather than the head, and you'll have time to get off at least one extra shot.
Crouching at the peak of your jump may land you in places you thought were impossible to reach.
Crouch!-- The crouch jump is a basic element of navigating maps in Halo. Simply crouch at the peak of your jump to give yourself a little extra distance. Many jumps in Halo 3 are made possible by the crouch jump. This technique is very basic, but will allow you to make a large variety of new jumps. Don’t be afraid to try out new things. Many useful jumps were discovered by someone who thought they might be able to land it, or decided to try something out of desperation in a match. While many of the hardest jumps require more advanced techniques, you’ll be surprised at some of the things you’ll discover by fooling around in a custom game by yourself or with a few friends. |
