Triggers Down Looking Fierce as they Blow Past Breaking Point
By subtheorist | Published: July 12, 2008 9:51pm EDT
Serving as the first ESPN Saturday Night match of MLG Orlando, Triggers Down just took on Breaking Point in order to move their way into Winners Bracket Round 3. The match was hard-fought by both sides, but, Triggers Down is simply on fire at this tournament. Despite Breaking Point's best efforts, Triggers Down proved to be just too much to handle as they went on to win the match in a 3-0 routing. Here's how it went down: The series kicked off with one of Breaking Point's strongest games, Narrows CTF. By demonstrating superior map control, in combination with amazing sniping skills, Triggers Down quickly jumped out to a one flag lead. Breaking Point responded shortly afterward with a capture of their own, but it prove to be their last of the game. Triggers Down went on to capture two more flags and take Narrows CTF 3-1.
That brought us to Construct Team Slayer, a map and gametype Triggers Down has been working on improving. After a fairly sluggish start, SK brought his team to life as he chalked up 16 of the 32 kills his team had by the game's midpoint. The domination continued throughout the duration of Canstruct Team Slayer, until Triggers Down had eventually won the map 50-37.
Everyone has been waiting to see how Snipedown and Hysteria would perform together, and Game 3 gave us a glimpse into the infinite potential these two players possess. Game 3 took us to Oddball Guardian, which happens to be yet another gametype Triggers Down has been striving to improve on. Whatever they've done must have worked, as Oddball Guardian was once again all about Triggers Down. Snipedown and Hysteria each put up 35 kills, as well as double digit kill to death differentials. Triggers Down walked away from Game 3 with the map, the match, and the right to move into Winners Bracket Round 3.
Stay tuned as the next ESPN Saturday Night match gets underway momentarily.
