Triggers Down 3-0's Classic in Winners Round 3

For the second match of MLG Orlando's ESPN Saturday Night, Triggers Down made an appearance against a slightly demoralized Classic. Moments before the match, Classic had just escaped a potentially disastrous situation as they narrowly avoided a loss to Influence. The match against Influence was pushed into the 5th map, in which Classic was able to come out victorious. However, it's arguable that the match was a blow to Classic's confidence as they took on the daunting task of taking on the powerhouse that is now Triggers Down.Let's take a closer look at how it all went down. The match was kicked off on The Pit Capture the Flag. After a fairly short-term stalemate, Snipedown was able to get the Overshield on its second spawn, put multiple members of Classic down, and then walk away un-touched with the flag for a capture. Triggers Down was then put on their heels as Classic's intense aggressiveness was able to keep them pinned in the spawn for several minutes. TD was eventually able to fight their way out, at which point Hysteria put in two consecutive flag captures for a 3-0 win on The Pit.
That moved us into Game 2, which took place on Team Slayer Amplified. Amplified was rarely played in MLG San Diego, and it seemed as though both teams struggled to maintain any level of map control. It could have been due to inexperience, which translates into very primitive strategies. Nonetheless, Classic started the game off strong, and maintained the lead for the majority of the match. Once again, Snipedown put on an extremely impressive performance as he racked up over 21 kills by the match's conclusion. In a last-minute surge of slaying, Triggers Down rallied to end up winning Amplified Team Slayer by a score of 50-48.
At this point, the look on Classic's faces resembled that of a wounded, demoralized, and completely unmotivated team. Game 3 took place on Construct King of the Hill, a gametype in which Triggers Down happens to excel. After having a poor showing on the previous map, Naded went huge right out of the gates, nearly racking up a killing frenzy by the time he was finally stopped. Classic once again held the lead throughout the majority of the game, but in another last minute surge of energy, Triggers Down racked up the 250 seconds needed to steal the map from Classic.
Triggers Down will now head into the Winners Bracket Semi-Finals to take on Ambush, who just upset Str8 Rippin moments ago. Stay tuned to mlgpro.com as the chaos continues tomorrow morning!
