Orlando H3 Championship Bracket Finals Game by Game Breakdown
By subtheorist | Published: July 15, 2008 6:18pm EDT
Game 1 of the second series kicked off with Onslaught CTF. It was here that Triggers Down put on one of the most impressive displays of skill we saw all weekend long. They were able to capture three consecutive flags in just over one minute to start the game. Str8 Rippin were eventually able to regain their composure, and put in three consecutive flags of their own. Elamite went on to break the tie, putting Str8 in the lead at 4-3. But with the help of SnipeDown's 22 kills and 28 assists, Triggers Down went on to win the map 5-4.
The second map of the series was The Pit Team Slayer. Once again, the game started off equally balanced, as both team traded kills all the way up to the halfway point in the match. But it was Snipedown's sniper that crested TD over the edge, giving them a 34-29 lead, of which they built on throughout the rest of the match. Triggers Down took home The Pit TS by a 50-43 margin.
With Triggers Down only one map away from their first championship, they headed into Oddball Guardian with determination in hand. TD took the early lead at 60-30, but not long after, Str8 was able to quickly tie the game up at 79. It was here that Hysteria and Snipedown caught fire in the sniper tower, boosting their team to a 150-110 lead. TD built onto their lead until it was mathematically impossible for Str8 to come back. Oddball Guardian ended with a final score of 223-176 in TD's favor.
Triggers Down celebrates, and is congratulated by Str8, Rippin after their 3-0 victory.
After eight of the most intensely fought maps we've witnessed in Halo 3's brief history, Triggers Down were finally MLG Orlando's champions. They were immediately bombarded with camera flashes and applause, and for the first time felt what it was like to be the team to beat. Congratulations to Triggers Down on their win, and be sure to stick with mlgpro as our post-event coverage begins to roll-out.
