Here is information on Version 4 of MLG's Halo 3 maps and game types. Below you will find the official maps for each game type. Note that only MLG CTF on The Pit and MLG Onslaught are map-specific, the rest of the game types (Team Slayer, Oddball and King of the Hill) work for all MLG maps. Read below for more additional details about downloading the maps and changes made to the v4 game types. We are happy to introduce MLG Onslaught (a two-base map) and MLG Stockpile (a four-base map) to the mix. These maps are both heavily-tested, Forged maps from Foundry.
What follows is a detailed description of how to download the new maps and the changes we made moving from version 3 to version 4:
How to Download
To download Halo 3 files you do NOT need to be friends with the person who made them. All you need to do is go to Bungie.net, sign in (the same email under which your Halo 3 gamertag is registered) and download from that person's file share. The next time you sign into Halo 3, the game will automatically download them.
All MLG Halo 3 game types from now on will be under the gamertag “MLG Gametypes.” To download the version 4 game types go to MLG Gametypes’ Fileshare and click on the “Download to Halo 3” links for each of the maps and game types. Each time you click on a “Download to Halo 3” link, Bungie.net will tell you that the download has been queued. The next time you sign into Halo 3, you will download the files.
PLEASE NOTE: Bungie.net/Halo 3 limit your download queue to eight (8) at a time. Therefore, when you are downloading the MLG Game Types, Maps and Settings, you will need to queue up the first eight, then turn on Halo 3, let them download automatically (which clears your queue), and then go back to bungie.net and put the remainder of the files in queue.
Version 4 Changes
Notice that there are MLG and GB (GameBattles) CTF gametypes. Since GB matches are played online, and there are no referees, there cannot be an indefinite overtime. Instead, there is a 30-second overtime period. While this is not ideal, it’s the optimum solution.
All Maps
Version 3 had 12 game types. We have lowered the number to 11, removing Team Slayer Isolation, Team Slayer Narrows, CTF Narrows, Team King Guardian, and Team King Isolation in favor of four game types from MLG-created Foundry Maps (MLG Onslaught and MLG Stockpile). The four game types we have added are Team Slayer MLG Onslaught, Team Slayer MLG Stockpile, CTF MLG Onslaught, and Team Ball MLG Stockpile.
All BRs were set to respawn 10 seconds after being picked up. All Maulers were set to respawn two minutes after being picked up.
Slight modifications were made to the number and positioning of spawns on each map. Slight modifications were made to the positioning of some weapons on each map.
MLG Construct
A carbine near the Sniper spawn was replaced with a BR.
The sniper was moved closer to the center of the map.
The rockets were moved to the edge of their platform so that they can be grenaded into the yellow lift.
MLG Guardian
Frag grenades were replaced with Plasma grenades at the default shotgun spawn.
Two Frag grenades were added in the blue room.
MLG The Pit
Barriers were added near each OS ramp to make spawn trapping more difficult.
The fusion coils were removed from the attic as players will now be prohibited by rule from entering into that area of the map.
