[edit] General Strategy
There are many different strategies involved in Gears of War. Each player starts with a Lancer Assault Rifle, a Gnasher Shotgun, a Snub Pistol, and one Smoke Grenade. Many strategies in GoW involve team shooting where players work together to shoot opponents. Team Shooting is usually based around the Lancer because of the strength of the weapon. Most 1v1 situations are won with accurate shooting of the Gnasher.
One of the most intuitive parts of GoW is the active reload. An active reload essentially gives the player extra power with the bullets that are reloaded. To get an active reload, you push RB and a bar appears under your weapon indicator. There is a part of the bar that appears that will appear and that is the goal for a perfect active reload. You push RB again when the line slides over the white section of your reload bar. If you get a perfect reload, your character will say something most of the time. If you miss the reload, the reload bar will turn red and your gun will jam. Active reloads also have more power with some weapons than with others. For example, when you perfect reload the Longshot Sniper Rifle you will get a 1 shot down on opponents when you shoot them, this is however only if you shoot the from the waist up.
