The plasma pistol is a dual-wieldable energy weapon that's useful for draining shields and taking out vehicles. The semi-automatic primary fire does moderate damage, while holding down the right trigger will charge up an overcharge bolt which will track a target and drain its shields completely, even if the enemy has an overshield. After firing an overcharge bolt, the plasma pistol will overheat and must cool down for several seconds before it can be fired again. If the plasma pistol is held charged for an extended period time, energy will slowly be subtracted from its battery.
The overcharge bolt will also disable a vehicle's ability to move for a short time, although its weapons will still function.
